There are no European tracks PC2 doesn't have. They've been renamed, that's all. S. America has Sau Paulo, which was in PC3. N. America has the most new tracks, 4 new ones. But we lost Watkins Glen (possibly the best all round track imho) Indianapolis (road and oval) Daytona oval, Long Beach, COTA, Laguna Seca, Sonoma. Willow Springs and more, a massive hit to track count (and some of the more popular tracks to boot).

Oceania and Africa get one new track each, but Oceania loses that wonderful N. Zealand track.

For me, the thing you're actually LOOKING at while you race is the track. Variety there to me is FAR more important than the cars. I can happily play a game with a lower car count but fewer tracks quickly makes the game boring.

Excusing this by calling something 'focused' is a bit of a cop out. And honestly, with several other games VERY GT3 focused, S4S has decided to go ahead and find the most crowded and most mature motorsports segment to try and compete. Not a great idea given the historic failings of Ian Bell helmed titles.

His best products always were things that really had no competition.

Definitely planning on getting into something new soon, but short of plowing a LOT more money into a PC build capable of running the PC games well, if I stay on console I find nothing enticing me away from PC2 yet.
Indeed, and if you read my post I quite clearly state that PC2 has a far stronger track list, zero debate there from me at all 🤷.

You're a real fun sponge.
If you have so many complaints why are you still playing it?

Okay, just ran a 10 minute race in the V8s at TI Aida/Tamika. On controller it’s awesome!

Now, the authenticness of the locked diff, no TCS and no ABS are way better than before the update. The rear doesn’t swing around during threshold braking, the brakes are easy to modulate with the left trigger and wheel spin is easy to control.

AI(set to 60) were very much aware of my proximity. I was attacked when braking on the racing line and if I left the door open in corners and exiting corners. A few minutes to go and I messed up after moving up to 10/16, by not letting my tyres cool a bit. Overheated them and the rear end came around. Dropped to 16/16 and I wasn’t mad. Good stuff!

Only negative is the Hide HUD button isn’t functional when watching replays.

Must be a controller thing because I drove it tonight at Bathurst and that's exactly what it did. Any hint of getting on the brakes not really hard enough to lock up but just a good firm stop and BANG that rear end comes around and spins the car out. No telling how many times I spun it out at the Chase and at Murray's. The wheel spin is almost impossible for me to control. It's still much more difficult for me to drive than when it first came out.

I only had a little over an hour to try anything so I thought after the V8 I would try the "new and improved" GT3. Drove the Corvette at Nurburgring GP. My standard thing in any car is to put the wheel stiffness at about .84 or even .80 and increase the steering ratio to 1.2 except LMDh and that's 1.3. That seemed to make the Corvette more rear end happy than before the update. Ran that race and before I quit I thought I would go back and just run practice and this time not change the steering ratio. It seemed to make the car feel very slightly better. The rear end swing was a little more controllable. My fastest lap was about 7 tenths faster than with the quicker ratio. More testing is needed on different cars to verify this.

See this is where I think an addition called "Test Session" would be more beneficial than "Test Center". Take a car to any track you want and just run as many solo laps as you want with no traffic.

I'm on vacation next week so I probably won't play anymore until I get back.

Also what in the hell is this "Flying Zone Exploit Detected"?

Another also, Is that the correct Nurburgring Sprint course layout? I didn't think they used the Yokohama S in anything except with the 24 Hour layout?

May be or I'd seriously be complaining about the crazy wheel spin and loss of grip. Then, I'd put the game aside, until something interests me. I'm happy with V8's driveability.

I can't comment on any other cars as I'm all about the V8s right now.

Can't comment on the cars yet, but in Race Weekend you can set practice to as long as you like, turn qualifying and race off. Voila, test session.

That one apparently detects if you've cut the track or if the algorithm thinks you can't possibly have done the last section that quickly and got a run at the next lap. Or something like that, I get it when you blatantly cut a corner to get extra speed or something but it's pretty annoying when you can't see where you went wrong. I almost never get cut track penalties and still get these from time to time.

They use all kinds of variants of the Nurburgring, so yes, accurate. I imagine amateur to semi-pro sportscar racing sees the widest use of the different layouts.

Correct but that's still in a race weekend session. I'm talking about an independent session similar to what AMS2 has. Then you wouldn't have to go through turning this off and that off, setting AI numbers to 0 to get solo runs, etc. It would be a lot less hassle.

The track limits penalties I got last night on Nurburgring GP were at the second part of the Michael Schumacher S, two tires still on the left side of the curb but still got a penalty. Coming out of Warsteiner-Kurve, two tires still on the right side of the curb, got a penalty. And the right hand curb of Veedol Chicane, two tires still on the left hand side of curb, penalty.

I guess I just don't see it as that big a deal. I know they left time trial mode off as a deliberate design choice, there was a little bit of an explanation in the video about the career mode, although 75 minutes is a lot to watch. Basically they figured they wanted authentic and exploit setups with a liter of fuel and tires set to last exactly a lap isn't, but that's how people play time trials.

There's a thread in the Discord channel to report problematic track limits, post there if you haven't. And mention the flying zone thing, the more people being annoyed at them the more likely it is to get solved.

Also, how is it that a random number like 819 has at least four people I know of using it, myself included?

It's definitely not that big of a deal with me either. It's something I would rarely use. I hardly ever use it in AMS2 either. I just thought it would be nice to have in situations like this with the V8 where it constantly wants to spin out.

819 has a bit of significance with me and it's coming up soon. :D

I've made no secret of the fact I don't play PMR yet. It would involve having to buy a PS5 to play ONE game, and one game that sadly appears to be quite a step backwards from PC2. But I am deeply interested in the continuation of the line, and look forward to PMR eventually being worthwhile throwing a ton of money at a new console.

The saddest part of all this, quite honestly, is that PMR should have simply been PC3. All PC2 needed was some basic bug and handling fixes, and some new content, it would have been a triumph. It's a formula that has worked for decades for PD with Gran Turismo.

In some ways, Bandai or EA or whoever ended up with the rights to PC2 have done S4S a huge solid by delisting the entire game. If PC2 were still available, along with all DLC, it would be quite compelling as competition for PMR. Obviously, PC3 isn't (it's still available!), but it would be interesting to see how we feel about PC2 as a direct competitor to PMR.

We're all aware of your thoughts on the matter and can't specifically disagree. But this is a different game running on a completely new engine, not a Madness title, and sorry, you're going to have to update to a relevant platform someday. The answer to what you're looking for is a PC or Steam Machine and AMS2. Probably not what you want to here, but there it is, right in front of you.
