Proper braking points.

I'm just looking for a general answer about when you should do most if not all of your braking. Should be be before the corner so that you can acclerate threw the corner instead of braking? I brake during the corner only when i'm going to fast or when I enter the corner to fast to stop myself from understeering.
So if anyone can provide me with any information about when the proper general braking points it will be appreciated.
 
i guess the way i do it is that i break before entering the corner. just slow enough that i shift to the recommended gear. then i just accerate slowly through the corner. i guess it's that slow in fast out method. but in general i break some distance before the corner's entrance.
 
Read the GT3 manual. It helps out a lot. Reading a few autocrossing books they suggest a little, trail braking. Where your lightly pressing the brakes so it'll swing the back out just a tad more. But, I don't know how easy/effective that'll be.
 
Look near the tach, and you'll see a blinking number from time to time. It blinks when you should get into a certain gear. The number is the gear you should go in. After a long straight the number will blink when you should start braking, and the number is the gear you should be in when you enter the turn.
 
Its all a personal preference of driving style. I brake before the corner and than exit with more speed. I find it is faster with that technique.
 
I break before the corner, usually where the sign's say 100m or the 50m meter ones, depend's on the speed.
 
All together now, repeat after me:

Slow in, fast out.
 
I have a bad habit of braking late and sliding the back out abit.
But I found on others games like TOCA touring cars, the earlier you brake the better.
 
well the easiest way to really understand it is to think about it this way. braking, cornering and accelerating all take up grip, you only have a limited amount of grip so you need to maximize the time for each of those factors. so you brake before even turning and you accerate after turning is done. this lets you maximize the grip for each of those things. using all the available grip for braking means you can stay at a higher speed before braking then utilize all the grip to slow yourself in the shortest possible time. when cornering if you are able to use all the grip available then you can corner at a higher speed and if you are able to use all the grip for accerlerating then you will have more traction and be able to accelerate faster out of the corner. this is the simple way to think about it. now that is not always the fastest because you can mix the grip between two of the factors in small amounts and smooth the transitions between them to drive the fastest.
 
And of course it depends on the drive type.
