Just want to get some opinions on pro that use automatic drive.

Not saying that those guys arnt fast but I found myself in a pro evo and sti room, had a little succuss and some loses.

now a couple of fast guys that I lost to used AT and not MT. When I asked if they could run me on Mt they kinda brushed it off.

I mean if you are fast shouldnt you be able to control your car?

AT is still an assist right up there with srf.

AT helps in some situations with 4WD. It just shifts at a particular RPM. For some cars, that works. But for some other cars, it makes it slower.

Yeah and srf helps you get a better time lol. I watched two pros go for pinks yesterday and the guy running AT won. its should be rules for that...NO AT.

It would be fun to see how some would do if there was a AT restict option.

Not to mention guys use AT on alot of car besides 4wd.

True...I run AT on only 2 of my cars since it helps, but I guess you have quite a valid point here.

Im not bashing it but I would expect more noobs to use it than in pro rooms.

AT won't make a car quicker, just more consistent. With Most cars though it will slow you down. If someone is very good at shifting manually then he's at no real disadvantage regardless of the car.

If some dont mind driving either way then I shouldnt expect the grumpy I get from them after I ask can one go to manual.lol...I just want to see them in MT action.

Btw, while some of my request were granted, I did see a big difference on the next drag. Just saying

Yeah, I suppose if your doing pinks or racing for somthing it's best to be on an even playing field, eliminate the potential for driver error in 1 car and it's not so even anymore. I wouldn't consider anyone who refuses to race in manual a pro. Many pros do use some of their cars on auto but they also have the ability to run manual in the same car and be just as fast, if they can't then they're no real pro.

Remember the best drag racer/drag team thread with the list of draggers? There are alot of people I run into that get grumpy on that list.

But pros dont use AT though...lol, I wont say any names and leave it at that...I expect a couple pm's in just a minute lol.

Yeah I remember the list(s) real pros have good attitudes, many fast people don't.

Well I know one person that uses at for reasons thats not my place to say and he is a real cool dude. I have all the more respect for him for being able to tune all his cars to run at and still be competitive. I'd like to see a lot of guys here do that with an acr and manage not to get beat by at least 2 cars. Not everyone that uses at is a noob or trying to gain an unfair advantage. Just wanted to let you know. 👍 The only advantage at has over mt is consistency. If you claim to be a "pro" then you should be able to shift fairly properly so that really leaves no advantage. I'll even take it a step further and say for the most part using at is a disadvantage. At =1st gear launch on everything always, and not being able to pick your shift points. Just keep that in mind.

AT or MT,That's not the problem,The real problem is people guess launching or getting there buddy to figure out some ghosting pattern. We seriously need a drag track with a treeing system with lights and if you jump you get a red light and you lose. How can we get them(The people who hold the cards)take notice that drag racers make up a good percentage of the game...

^^^This x's a million. 👍

I wonder who you mean Kenny :D:tup: Well I use auto whenever I can because I'm really bad at shifting... just another reason I'm not a "pro". I have had to use MT on a lot of cars recently though just to get a halfway decent time... I'm just lazy :D

...it's definitely a skill though... one I don't have

im just really lazy. and take into consideration that my right joystick is what i shift with, so my thumb does get tired pretty fast.

What are you talking about? NHRA cars are auto's... pretty much every pro stock car that you will ever see has a B&M shifter and a Turbo 350 AUTOMATIC trans... umm rally cars are basically autos with paddle shifters.. how about a Ferrari 458 or Lambo Avantador.. they dont have clutches. All flappy paddle gear boxes (that work) are hooked up to an automatic transmission... Do i need to go on?

Listen man..."Pro's" use whatever they want or need to use to win... dont concern yourself with what other people are using on here.. because A) its the same options you have available.. is it not? and B) its none of your business telling people what they can and cant run. To tell you the truth... I run At on 1 car... my GTR... other than that... i run everything else in MT... so i understand what your staying... but really you have no place trying to make this into an argument. Run what you want.. .this is America lol.

If your losing to Auto's... then its either your shift points...your tune...or your getting owned on the tree.. not because autos are cheap and "pro's dont run auto".... because you should be able to pull them back... because (as we all know) auto tunes lose on their top end pull.

Stop complaining and race.

👍 very well said busa, and i agree.

Can you do 4-5 gear changes in as many seconds and still keep 4000hp track straight and true? Argument invalid. And even then, its still an even playing field which is what we're trying to get at, is it not?

How is that an invalid point? You made my point with the first 5 words of your post. You cant do (its actually 3) gear changes in 6.5 seconds....its impossible. So they are autos...

Now i shall break it down to gran turismo terms for you. The Audi Rs6 avant.. 1st to 2nd is hard to hit consistently when you run MT... so you run auto.. BUT... lose top end pull because your over reving the engine..so you may get of the line first... but like I said.. if you can tune.. you should be able to track them down. Pros... and cons... THATS RACING.

And as far as "an even playing field"... you have the ability to do the exact same things as them... thats as even of a playing field as it gets... just because you "feel" a particular way dosent mean its not their for you to use. I mean... Toe angle in this game is hysterically unrealistic... but that dosent stop you from using it? Because it makes you faster!!!!!

They are autos because they need to be, thus argument invalid, but when its street car vs street car, and ones in an auto, the manual's disadvantaged as they can never be as consistant as an auto, thus giving the auto an advantage... Yes, you may be able to do the same as an auto, but you cannot ever be as consistant.

Auto disadvantage is that you miss key shift points.. As stated.. Show me how AT is at an advantage cuda v cuda.. Or LeMans Quttro v LeMans Quattro.. You need to shift early on these cars.. Auto will get you slaughtered in these..

So...? Consistency means nothing if your consistently slower than your opponent.. now dose it?

So according to you... we should all run autos so we could have consistent races and tell whos car is consistently faster.... i mean... because its more consistent.. it would be better... more consistent racing. Right? Since consistency is the only thing that matters to you.. not having a faster E/t... you want to pull up next to a car you have already raced and know... because there couldnt of been any driver error last time... it will be the same result as the last race... because if your consistent.. thats better than having a stray perfect run with a manual.

Dude.. im done with this before the mods start getting pissy. Bottom line... line up and race.

In real life people in NHRA using autos are still manually shifting them. Just as you would your ds3 controller. The advantage is no lag from clutching and being able to launch them consistently at a specified rpm. The driver still chooses his shift points.

Anyway other than that yeah autos have their place among pros, but they should also be willing and able to switch the same car to run manual if needed for a fair pinks race, unless the other guy doesn't care.

The only time you run an automatic is when the car likes to be shifted 200RPMs before redline, and you can launch it in first gear without hitting the rev-limiter. If your car falls into that category, then you can use it, otherwise I suggest using manual tranny.

I don't see why this requires an argument. =\

And this.... IRL Auto have a massive disadvantage over a stick car, so I dont get it. U run what u brung.

I have a pretty quick RX7 spirit R

raced a guy. he destroyed me. i was like *****

went to see if he had SRF on.. nope. but he was in automatic.

auto good for RX7?

I dont see no need for auto in fr cars period.

Manual or kik lol

I used to run with a guy who had to run auto. He only had one hand so he had to auto tune all of his cars... I felt so bad.

If they brag that they are fast, force them to eat their words.

Again.. The rx7 has max power very close to redline.. So there is nothing wrong with them choosing to run it.. You might have to short shift or start in 2nd.. But they aren't you or don't have your tune..
