PS2 price drop anytime REAL soon?

Hi all, I'm going to be getting a slim ps2 in less than 2 weeks as I am desperate to play gt4. I will be paying $140-$150 for it (and thank god gt4 just became a greatest hit). Is the ps2 going to drop to $100 anytime soon because I know the system isn't quite worth $150 but i'm willing to get ripped off a little because I NEED gt4. So, if this thing isn't gonna drop to $100 by May, its a done deal...im getting it now.

I don't see a reason why the price of the PS2 would drop. $140 is not that expensive compared to what the console costs to produce.
When my big PS2 broke down last year, I went down to the dealer, bought a slim one and I was playing again the same evening.

If you can save up enough money for the PS3 and GT5 for after that, then yes.

Otherwise I would just wait

And GT4 isn't that addicting as I thought it would be, I expected too much but I dont care cause I still have some fun in tuning and keeping a gallery.

It's a bit foolish to get a whole console for just one game, IMO. I'd see if there's any other games that you like that you can get.

And no, a PS2 will probably not go below $150. If you want to get one for cheaper, go on eBay and see if there's any used ones you can get for cheap.

The PS3 has an estimated cost price of $800 (mainly due to the blu-ray technology), so its gonna cost a lot more than $150.
You can find bundles with the slim PS2, the DS2 and GT4 for $170 which is a bargain IMO, when you compare that price to the time you'll spend playing GT4 once you have it.

Over the past 3 years I spent about $1,500 for gaming (2 PS2s, 4 DS2s, 35+ games) and I played about 4,000 hours, which makes less than $0.40 per hour. Only books have a cheaper cost per hour.

Its the only game Ive got 👍 and probably will ever play although my problems with M12 makes me think of ebay and places as such.

I was in a similar situation about about 2 months ago. My sons spilled root beer on my PS1 and ended its life. I didn't want to spend 150 on a PS2 because I thought the price would drop when PS3 came out. The I went a month w/o my GT2. That was agonizing.

So I shopped around and got a good deal on a PS2 bundle. Then GT4 went greatest hit and I picked that up.

Theres nothing wrong with buying a PS2 for one game, taht is basically what I did, I have more games now but originally I bought it for GT3, knowing that GT4 would be out soon. For $150, it should keep you enteretained, just break it down by how much it cost per hour of enjoyment. They really are not all that expeinsive when looked at that way.

I mainly only like racing sims...to be more precise, I only like gran turismo. Any other racing sim looks like total garbage compared to it. It's basically all i will play. That and Metal Gear Solid, so I will be getting that too and possibly Shadow of the Colossus when its cheap.

Well in my opinion, I wouldn't want to waste 150,-.
If you spend 150,- then you are 150,- more poor, so really the price just rises for you. And if you have to earn it back then it will take you even more time then it would have taken without the PS2.

Plus remember, when the PS3 arrives I think you'll be more desperate to try out that thing instead of GT4

Lol well it's the whole stuff of internet payment that scares me off lol. I hate internet payment. Plus I always have do to alternative payment stuff because we dont have a mastercard creditcard or something like it. Trust me I would pay 3,99 for that, but it's a bit stupid concidering I have to get my mum with it again and ask if she could pay that through her credit card so I will pay the 3,99 back to her sometime....

For me, that "one" game was GT3. I think you should go for it as well. You might be after just GT4 for now, but PS2 library is so huge, you'll find bunch more great games to play, guranteed.

Mine was a GT3 bundle too. I wasn't going to spend $300 on a gaming system, so I was still playing GT's and other games on PS1. But as soon as people around me started talking about Gran Turismo 3, racing, talking trash, I had to go out and get it. Unfortunately, it's been the opposite with the GT4. I don't know too many people who plays GT4, so I stopped too and couldn't really get into it. I play more Mario Kart on GameCube than GT4.

No, i actually haven't, but i heard it is very good...I apologize for saying everything else is garbage. I jsut really like the GT series and Im sure I would like it more than forza.

I'm yet another guy who bought a PS2 specifically to play GT3. And now I'm addicted to GT4. My other games are collecting dust.

You should get into the weekly race series if you can. It's a lot of fun trying to chase the fast lap times of the A List drivers. I'm liable to get back into it at some point, but work, and work on a roleplaying game keeps me from practicing.

It's gonna cost what the X-box 360 costs (about $300), they cannot sell it at a higher price for simple marketing reasons.
But since they'll lose $500 everytime they sell a PS3, accessories and games will be more expensive than for the PS2. They have to earn money in the end.
