PS2 price drop anytime REAL soon?

Zellers in Canada was advertising the PS2 for $129Cdn. Everywhere else still seemed to say around $160Cdn.

I didn't actually check in and confirm their price. But it might indicate a general price drop coming. Large chains have occasionally made gaffes like that in the past--prematurely letting cats out of bags, as it were.

On a tangentially related note, I've seen no sign of GT4 Greatest Hits pricing here in Canada.

With the PS3 to hit the shelves next november, there is no reason for the price of the PS2 to drop.
It'll drop only in the end of the year when the next gen is available IMO.

The PS 2 is selling very well (10M in 2006), SONY says, so there will be no price drop coming any time soon.

Toys '¶ Us offered a deal with GT4 and a PS2 for $160Cdn. When I went to get it, I discovered they had GT4 separately for $29.99 (i.e. Greatest Hits pricing, but they didn't have the relabeled boxes yet; not even the "Greatest Hits Shrink Wrap" version). So it also seems like Sony may be experimenting with the $130Cdn price on a "special offer" basis.

Of course, the Canadian dollar has been strong and $130Cdn is now a lot more than $100US.
