It's gonna cost what the X-box 360 costs (about $300), they cannot sell it at a higher price for simple marketing reasons.
But since they'll lose $500 everytime they sell a PS3, accessories and games will be more expensive than for the PS2. They have to earn money in the end.

I hope they will keep their hopes on just simply, the amount of PS3 games that would be sold.
If the expectations are really high, then it looks promising:D

I like that comment of yours:p Gives me some hope of getting the PS3 at it's release date (wich will probably delayed, so I have more time to save up the money:) ).

If you get a used system at gamestop/EB they might be cheaper than $150

It's a bit foolish to get a whole console for just one game, IMO. I'd see if there's any other games that you like that you can get.

Why I only have 2 games + all the GT games, it's amazing I have any outside of GT actually.

They are, but last I checked, it was still $110 - $120 or something. It wasn't a low price for a used PS2. If I was buying a used PS2, they'd have to offer me free warranty and the price of around $100. :D I'd recommend shelling out the extra $$$ for a new one.

I'm definitely going new. I don't buy used consoles unless they are under $50. You can tell what a used game has been through just by looking at its surface, but its harder to tell what kinda crap the previous owner of a console put that console through before selling it.

Exactly, I'm the same way. When some of the new consoles are having issues right out of the box, makes me think twice about secondhand consoles. :D

No, i actually haven't, but i heard it is very good...I apologize for saying everything else is garbage. I jsut really like the GT series and Im sure I would like it more than forza.

No problem man. I have both games and love them both equally, but if I didn't have Xbox Live, I'm sure GT4 would be my favorite. There are things that each game does better than the other, but overall, they're both great games, and I'd highly recommend getting both if it all possible.

BTW, go for the PS2 and GT4 for now, you won't be dissapointed. And later, if you have a chance, spend a little time with Forza, even if it's on a friend's system, just to see if you like that as well.

I just got GT4 at target for 19.99! USD. I guess they dropped the price. Now I just need to send my ps2 to sony so i can enjoy this game. :grumpy:
I think the ps2 might drop this fall.

It probably will be this fall...Unfortunately and fortunately, I can't wait any longer...

I don't mean to start a flame war or offend you in any way, but; have you even played Forza?
I didn't Forza that great. I felt way to limited from choises of cars in the bging of the game... Gran Turismo is a much better game, i can see why he said that, but Forza is fun after you pass the 15th level. (i'm on 18) I don't it much though :indiff:

Ah well thats true, but I now realise that if he wants GT4 THAT bad then he should get over with it and get it:tup:
But I dont know....buying a complete console for one game is pretty...I would never do it at least. MAYBE for GT5, if it was really really good:dopey:

I don't think 150 bucks is a waste for even just one game (GT 4), I've been playing it on and off since it was released. That's alot of enjoyment and gameplay. Well worth the money!

amen! also if he can get a DFP with that then it will be double the enjoyment.. i wish i had one though :indiff:

I bought a PS2 just for GTA and GT games.

Them alone was a good enough reason for me to buy a replacement PS2 after the old one wore out. As it stands now the only non GTA and GT games i own are tekkan 4 and 5. While my brothers own a varitey of other games.

Ah yeah I bought the DFP. it's one awsome thing, I reccomend it, but after using it for such a long time I have lost the feel of the controller so I dont know how much better the DFP is anymore.

When I first got it though, it was heaven:drool: Also VERY nice for other race games.

I will get a DFP eventually. In summer probably. Can't be spending too much in one go...

Yeah, Forza'a cars selection is pretty limited, not only in the beginning, but throughout the whole game, IMO. That's something that GT4 does A LOT better, the variety in the cars is simply incredible. Plus, GT4's car selection is heavily Japanese biased, which is a big + for me.

Limited amount of cars is a big turn off, no matter how cool they are.

What sponsors

Consoles have an incredibly high research and development cost (similar to the R&D cost required to produce a new car, the figure in USD has 8 or 9 zeroes). Moreover, the cost to produce a console is much higher than its selling price. So when the PS3 hit the shelves, Sony will have probably spent more than a billion dollars and earned nothing yet.

To boost the first sales :
1) the release date will be delayed so that people will be eager to buy it, but not enough to miss the Christmas period
2) the shortage will be organized to make people rush to buy it without thinking twice
3) some highly expected games will be released at the same time to fuel the sales.

But there again, these games will cost a few million dollars each to develop, and will only be sold $50 or $60.

So how can Sony make money in the end ?
Well, first they need to sell quickly as many consoles as possible to secure the biggest market share : that'll ensure profits on the long term.
Then they need to schedule exclusive games (that won't exist on the X-box or the Nintendo) on a regular basis to fuel the hardware (console) sales.
Finally, they will have to rely on several independant studios (Konami, EA...) to develop a lot of games. Sony doesn't need to invest money in these games but will earn money (royalties) instead. And that'll ensure the short term profits.

There is absolutely no sponsoring involved in it.

:D It's a big + for me to man, i love the fealing of having 50 Skylines, and 40 NSX, and 20 different Fairladys in my garage, all tuned for my likeing :D Forza went a little over boared with the Ferraris, when i have a S1 Toyota MR2 :D It's orage it's sexy, and it pwns all! I don't understand the people who never play GT4 after gettting Forza, i think i play MORE GT4 after playing Forza.
But i must admit, Forza is fun to crash in :D

The only issue with Sony attempting to make money right now is the cost of the console. Sure, the games will only be $50 or $60... but the system? Rumor has it sitting at around $900. *boggle* I mean, if it's going to cost that much, the system is going to be phenominal... and I wouldn't have any worries about buying a sub-par system. But still... shelling out $900 is a huge kick. I'd probably be more apt to buy an Xbox and Rev with that money.

Granted, I'm sure that no racing game on either of those consoles will ever come *close* to GT5 ever will.

Now me? Putting out $170 and change for a PS2 and GT4... very tempting. I'm a poor college student, so spending that much is hard. But for the amount that I'd play it (maybe 10 hours a week), I definitely think that it would be worth it.

As I said above, the PS3 production cost seems to be around $800, but they can't sell it at such a price. They need to have a selling price similar to the price of the X-box 360. Anything else would be likely to become a commercial suicide.

Just so happens I know a guy who is kind of a Sony representitive, he told me that the PS3 will not be out until mid 2007 here, so got a while to wait. I suppose the US will get it same time as Japan/China? if so it might be out for christmas 06 for you guys.

ok, so I think it will be released in September in Japan and the US, but not until feb-mar in AUstralia.

So if I buy a PS3, and nothing but GT5, I will be stealing from Sony?

Wait, I bet I'll buy at least six memory cards!

It's not gonna be easy, but I think you just beat the system.

I don't know about you guys, but i'm saving up for the system. I REALLY REALLY WANT GT5!
I won't spend $X00 unless there are a good online racing feature and realistic damage. I still have a dozen games on the PS2 I haven't played yet because I spend most of my gaming time on GT4, so I have enough to keep me busy for years even with no PS3.

and you can be sure that, even with the launch of PS3, developers will still continue to produce games to PS2. Of course, in less numbers and the top games will be next-gen, but our PS2 still have a long life!

Buying a system for just one game? Why not? That's what has gotten me into console-gaming. I've bought my first PSX in '98 just for Gran Turismo, and now I'm on my second PS2, and I also have an X-box (Halo & Forza).
