Hey guys sorry if this has already been bought up i'v been thinking of picking up gt6 is there a compulsory install for the game? 12g's been enough and is the game worth purchasing if you didn't like gt5?

It installs and runs fine on a 12GB even with the 1.03 update so far as long as you have nothing else installed. Game data is only at around 5gb. I cant guarantee there will be enough room with all future updates

Installing is recommended but not a must. The 500 GB is not much more expensive anyway. At least get a HDD. It should cap at 20 GB for an install.

As for your other question:
If you didn't like GT5 then its doubtful you will like GT6.
The physics and loading speeds are the main positives but it still has the same negatives as 5.
New tracks are good, well, most are.
Only you can make that decision.
For all its negatives there are still the glimmers of excellence and that's what is so frustrating, it could be so much better with so little work.

Mine is now 13gb in total . Default option is to install while playing , but in case your hd is out of space (or you have 12gb ss) you can always disable that in options. Theoreticaly you need HD only for updates ,but game will run/load much faster from HD ,so you can still buy some cheap HD later /separately and mount it in PS3.

They all take the same 2.5" SATA drives.

If you are fitting a HDD from an old PS3 you can modify the old caddy to fit, but it's probably not worth the effort.

All other superslims come fitted with the caddy already, so you can just swap out the hard drive for a bigger one.

Yes, just had to buy some SONY metal case to fit it in. Otherwise any 2.5" SATA HDD / SSD will fit.

Yes it does. Maybe it will change in the future but it works for the moment. I have a 12Gb and have no space problems so far. I have not disabled the install option. Its possible GT5 detects 12Gb and installs less files on it.

the 99mb update added a car , an interior & was only 99 mb
yet the vision car update was +1GB [ i dont think redbull events are that big in size they add seasonal events easily , thats why i belive the big size of that update was because of those HD Videos] , now they if they are planing to have big updates for the vision cars it'll need much bigger space

but i hope they dont , i hope they reconsider
if it only takes less than 100mb to add a car or two why have those big updates with HD videos , they can add a TV Section like gt5 so people can stream the videos if they want
some people dont have enough space & some like me dont have a good connection to download those big updates without trouble
it took about 15-16 hours for me to DL 1.02 update

I doubt that would be the case, We have already gotten over 2GB in updates and the game has only been out about 6 weeks with another large update planned for this month and 1 each month over the next 3 to 4 months and possibly beyond not to mention planned DLC. I would be shocked if it doe snot exceed 4 gigs very soon.

Thats not good for the Blu-ray drive or for loading times!
Maybe its worth getting even a 40GB HDD for a few £?

Couldn't care less about the blu ray drive wearing itself out because gt6 may have installed less files. Thats a ridiculous thing to care about.

I installed a $69 120GB Kingston SSD that was on sale, into the PS3 slim. you will need a bracket if your slim didn't come with one, but there are ways you can makeshift one, as it's really just a filler/placeholder for your otherwise non-moveable SSD drive

I WISH PD can make the option to force full game install without needing the disc, I feel it's the disc reading that is causing many problems with PS3's shutting down.

I do not want to burst a bubble, but The 12gb slim Ps3 is very similar in offering to that wii mini console oeffered right now, They know about it but being a business they recommend a bigger console configuration ( 120 or 500 GB) sized to run the game.

12gb sucks. What are you going to do..play one game at a time and erase/install new games everytime a new ones released?

12gbs are just for gifts...nowadays games take up so much memory its a nearsighted decision to buy a 12gb. Upgrading the drive is a hassle too from what i hear.

Buying a used 250 slim is a much much better choice.

exactly , what GT5 i remember DLCs came as patches , everyone would download them & just download a small unlock file from psn when you bought them

first vision car took 1gb , you think the other 20+ wont take more than 4gb? not to mention the updates & dlcs ?

I'm at 11gb+ and this doesn't include the NOVICE-IB career portion of tracks/whatever other content installs during those races, if it differs at all. Plus the in-game data counter is incorrect.

If the merc VGT took 1gb, why did the FT-1 and BMW interior combined only take 99mb?

The VGT did not take 1gb, There was a lot of stuff in that big day one patch, same with the second 1+gb patch who knows what was actually in them.

We can be sure however that there will be a few more gigs in updates and dlc before it is over
