I have been trying this download for a while (maybe 10x) and it still errors on me. Guess they just don't have the capacity.

Dont know why they persist with "security" updates anymore.. They had a good few years run of being the "Unhackable" console, but now all is out in the woods, resistance is futile.
Downloaded and installed update, and back to GT5 within 15 mins![]()
Updating via flash drive, you need to make sure it's in a folder named "UPDATE" (without quotes, duh) other than that, no idea if that doesn't work. I used to update with flash drive before we got DSL so I know it works.
I had no problem downloading the update though. Cool for me I guess.
I downloaded the file that jump_ace posted but its only 26,730 KB. scared to do anything with it.
they want to keep it "unhackable",pirated games loses them money(1st party games)
In the flashdrive, create a folder named 'PS3', and inside that folder create a folder named 'UPDATE'. Then put the .pup file inside the Update Folder.
Please stay on topic guys, no one cares how many guests are here.

I won't ask again. Stay On Topic. Stop wasting our time counting the number of guests and posting about it.

2 - Enough about the number of people browsing. Posts of this nature are nothing more than spam. This is now your third warning. There will not be a fourth.

is it safe to update![]()
*sigh* Sony will never learn their lesson... All that stuff hurt a normal users a way more than hackers (this update was a cheap attempt to prevent hacks/homebrew/piracy/etc).
I spent 30 minutes trying to update my 2nd PS3 via internet, then just dled update to usb flash. And guess what? A new key for that new firmware was decrypted and published in ~1 hour. *facepalm*
You've got the very wrong idea about CFW and obviosly can't see the difference between a hacker and a pirate. It was published, but it also will require all of those stinky pirates to re-backup / download their games, as they will no longer work until they are re-patched, etc.
Essentially, we spent 10 minutes updating our firmware, they'll spend 6 hours re-configuring their stolen games.
