This was announced what.. a week ago? We already know.

And chances are most of your games will work just fine right out of the box. The rest will work within a few months as updates come out.

Relax.

It wouldn't make sense to charge $674.99 now would it. Besides, Sony's losing a truckload of money on each PS3 made, so they have to recoup some of it.

Some of the games sold in EU will be cheaper. I think thats a good move even though software is were the money is made.

Im confused. The ps3 actually costs more in EU? How much more? IN US DOLLARS!
It changes every minute based on currency exchange rates. However, right now, in US dollars, the UK 60GB PS3 sells for about $825, so that would be $225 more.

In US dollars here is how the 60GB PS3 prices compare as of this morning's exchange rate:

JP = $515 (¥59,980)
US = $600
UK = $825 (£425)

There are countless reasons why prices will always vary from one region to the other including poor exchange rates, import taxes, distribution costs, market demand, etc.

It was.. Which to me seems wrong. But, I guess we need to buy MORE games to change that.....?
I hadn't considered this as a possible reason, but that actually makes a good deal of sense if true. If market research shows that the average EU gamer spends less on software than in other markets, this could also impact pricing of the hardware to help mitigate losses.

wow 825 dollars? I sure wouldnt pay that much for it. But i already have mine and i live in the usa so i guess i dont have to worry about it.

I understand the sentiment. I certainly was flabbergasted by the countless numbers of listings on eBay following its release where people were paying as much as $5,000 for a PS3. Crazy!
