Who will be buying a PS3 at launch? I think A pre-order will get the job done. :)

lol i was going to post a poll with it, but my pc just skrewed the pooch

I will, maybe more than one, it depends how many come to the UK, if theres not going to be enough stock I'll pre-order a few of them and pass them on for a premium ;). I'll have one for myself on launch though.

At first I thought I would put one on pre-order for sure, now I've been thinking of still playing my good ol'PS2 till at least the first price drop.

Same here. Well... except for the pic posting stream. ;)

But definitely gonna be in the pre-order list.

It depends on the launch game list
if there is something good, I will pre-order it for sure

I'm really leaning towards the Revolution. It's cheaper, and I'm rediscovering Nintendo games with GameCube right now. If I do go for Revolution, then I'd get PS3 at launch, only if I was going auction it off on eBay. I would expect to own one by the time GT5 is out though. :)

All the PS3's will be pre-ordered. So it sounds like idiocy. You might get one if you start piching up your tent.
Really, how the hell is that going to be pulled off? That's just not realistic. Sounds interesting, but how are stores going to take all those pre-orders and expect to fill them when they don't yet know how many PS3's they're going to be receiving? If they do take POs, then is it first come first served? Should they start taking POs now? Would they take POs with, or without money? I know I would never pay for a PO for a game console. You know how many stories in the papaer I read after the PS2 came out at how many pissed off people there were when stores that took money for POs, but didn't have them after the launch when they were promised to get one if the pre-paid? A lot.

I'll get a PS3 for launch day, but I will not sit out in the rain for 11 hours like I did for the PS2. If a store has them, great. I'll get one. But, if they don't, then I don't really mind waiting.

I'll go to places that are good. My local EB games have very good employees, and have never had a problem pre-ordering with them.
But chances are, that you will need to pre-order a PS3 if you want to get it.

Gamesop hasn't taken preorders yet...but I am the second name on their list of people to call when they start taking them.

Haa Im doing that too, just playing through Zelda : Ocarina of time, one of the best games ive ever played so far.

as for pre-ordering, my dad payed upfront for his ps2 and got it at launch, the store even held a pre-launch party with sony showing off some games n that.

I,m buying one, but if it costs above £500 then i may wait a couple months till I buy one. But I reckon it will cost £299 most likey.

I purchased a PS2 on launch day, and to be quite frank, I would have been better off buying a Dreamcast whilst waiting for GT3. Aside from the astronomical Australian price and the crappiness of the early titles, my console turned out to be faulty. After some words with the store, I was lucky enough to get a replacement unit without going through the lengthy warranty process with Sony. The PS3 will need a truly spectacular launch title if I’m to consider pre-ordering. As that’s highly unlikely, I can see myself waiting for Resi 5 or a GT title.

Like a6m5, I’ll hopefully be enjoying Revolution whilst waiting for must have PS3 software.:)

That sounds like my story. Bought it at launch for $750. Developed a fault after 6 months. I didn't have a problem with a replacement though - took it back to EB and they gave me a new one (in a sealed box) no questions asked. I still have this ps2 but it has a problem reading dvds - no matter because its got an 80gb hd to run the games.

I'll be itching to buy a PS3 at launch but I think i'll try waiting (not sure how long...

I'll wait at least until they release GT5.
If the game looks good, has realistic damage and an on-line mode, I'll probably buy the game and the PS3.
If not, I'll stick with my PS2 and wait for GT6.

I think we are going to get one on release date. Me and my brother will have to save up to get everything we want. At this rate we'll only be able to afford the console and nothing else. :( We spent a lot of our money on the 360 you see.

I heard they are releasing Halo 3 on the PS3 launch date. If that is true then I would probably buy a 360 on the PS3 launch date. :sly: I assume the launch date will be at the end of this year?

Yeah, I heard they'll release Halo 3 on the PS3 release date too.

The PS3 release date is on November of this year now. :)

8 more months? are the ****ing nuts? sorry, had tp get that out....

Delays for anything dont even effect me any more. No game delay could ever compare to what GT4 did to us. First Jan, then march, then it went to April and so on. Then all of a sudden it was the next year and still no GT4. I dont know how many times I had to change my vacation dates for work. That was absolutely rediculous so now when I hear a release date for anything I pretty much know it will change. Especially something major like the PS3. The biggest laugh will be whenever they say the first release date for GT5. I could easily bet thousands of dollars that they never even come close to releasing GT5 on the first date they mention.
The one game that will make me buy a PS3 will be the next Grand Theft Auto. THAT game will make me buy a PS3 for sure. I will also probably take at least a week off of work paid when it comes out.
