What he REALLY needs to do is play MGS like it was intended to be played. NOT being seen, and not killing anyone. Then if you throw the extreme difficulty into the mix, it get's even harder.
But all the time it seems abit...silly, abit anime, Splinter Cell is grittier, more down to Earth.
IMO, MGS is vastly superior to Splinter cell for many reasons, accuracy being one of them.
WHAT!!!! Robots, stealth suits, mechs, bosses, that's accuracy?
Splinter Cell is a Tom Clancy game, so automatically it takes a hit for having inaccurate info etc. Being in the military, I suppose I notice this more, but all Splinter Cell tries to do as a series it top MGS IMO, and it's one of the reasons I cannot enjoy it as much.
The Splinter Cell games have a more believible reality then the one presented in MGS.
For instance, MGS2 was one of the greatest games I'd ever played where use of environment played such a great role if you wanted to have fun or distract the enemy.
If tapping on walls is that amazing, I guess so, but the shadows in MGS 2 are poorly implemented at best. Splinter Cell did all this, along with giving your character cooler moves, better Stealth, and a higher reliance on light and shadow.
Another thing that Splinter Cell fails to do is build tension during key moments like MGS.
Disagree. Splinter Cell is more dynamic, key moments make them selves.
In MGS3, it was just TOO good when you had to go through the Sniper Battle the first time, and you were searching for him, and you can hear him talking to you when he's going to shoot you. It just made everything seem so great. Or when you had to beat the Boss, and they set your time limit, and the music picks up and changes when time get's closer to the deat line, that was just a great moment.
Having not played MGS 3 that much, I can't comment, but I agree that the MGS games have some awesome bits in em, and some cool details.
Hell, even the Cammo feature in MGS3 pwns splinter cell in it's own right, because it's so fucntional and has such wide uses for different terrain. It was a great thing, and I really loved it, sadly it probably won't return.
Come off it, you know as well as I do that MGS has allways been abit...simple when it comes to Stealth. Splinter Cell doesn't have camo, except for the standard suit he allways wears anyway, which is black. The lighting system in Splinter Cell makes an utter joke of MGS. And please, if you wanna play dress up, that's fine. I prefer proper stealth, hiding in shadows etc, not seeing if abit more green on the face adds 1% to my stealth rating, or if killing a croc gives me more health packs then a snake.
I do like MGS, but it's all abit silly and anime, compared to the seriousness of the Splinter Cell titles.
MGS3: Subsistence will be great, and for those who think it's "easy" maybe we'll just have to test your "skill" online...don't get scared, get owned.
Who knows. MGS3 has online multiplayer? As good as Splinter Cells is it?

Screens like this pretty much sum up why I prefer Splinter Cell.
