So, in the thread April 2019: International Daily Marathon Month, it's made clear that if you miss a day, stop logging as it might muck up the data.
We might be going away for a few days so I just wondered if there was any way to carry on.

Many of you (if not all) may know about the app PS4 RemotePlay. I downloaded and fired it up and WOW!! It works!!

Because the controller buttons are on the screen, there's no way I could do a race on it (doubt the PS4 pad will connect to an iPad, haven't checked) but what I did do is take a car on the Big Oval in Time Trial, whizz it around one and a half laps, and voila, daily bonus car in the garage!!

Steering takes bit of getting used to, but it's good enough for the SSX!

Have only tried on the same wireless network so far but it's supposed to work over the internet, so should work while away (if wifi OK).

I'm impressed

As far as I know you cannot use a DS4 with remote play on an ipad.

You can use a DS4 if you are on Android and have a compatible Sony phone or tablet. I used my Z2 tablet with a DS4 to create a livery the other day whilst sitting downstairs (PS4 is upstairs) watching the F1 race. Remote play usage was pretty much the main reason for buying the Z2.

You can also use a PS Vita as a remote play controller and screen.

I use it during some quiet periods at work to mess about with liverys using a DS4. Wouldn't race with it, pretty sure if your not on your 'home' WiFi there's a bit of an input delay

Looks like there are controllers you can use with iPad, but the DS4 will only work if iPad jailbroken.... a lot of info out there and still looking, but I think you're right.👍

Racing with it would be hard work.... the L/R3 for steering are very sensitive on the screen!! But, I did manage to get around the Big Oval with only a couple of mishaps and earn the daily bonus car! Amazing. If we do go away in April, I might be able to continue with the Daily Marathon (if hotel wifi good enough!!).

And as you both point out, it's great for messing with non-racing stuff from the comfort of the sofa!

Can't get this to work on my Samsung S9 or my old Samsung tablet! It installs and i used the number supplied on the PS4 screen. The phone connected and the PS4 recognised it. But all i got on the phone was a blank grey screen. I'm sure I can live without it!

It won't work on a Samsung, only works on Sony phones or tablets. I believe there's some PS4 remote play software for Windows, but I've never looked for it.

It works on my laptop on home wifi, sort of. No problem using the DS4 (with usb cable) and you can use the keyboard to type. However lag and image quality (pixelation with fast movement) make it unsuitable for racing. Good for liveries, buying cars etc.

Yes I will sometimes sit outised on the deck and do "non gameplay" things on it such as liveries, roster management and such. I think it's a great feature and works very well.

I am an Xperia fan and buy them for their high build quality, durability, water resistance, snappy software that doesn't bog down over time and of course, Sony's always-quirky and unique design language. I currently use an Xperia XZ and am in the process of upgrading to the XZ2. Just the fact that Remote Play exists even had me considering going up to the XZ2 Premium for screen size, but that beautiful 4K powerhouse is just way too big for my tastes.

Remote Play is a massive bonus for using Xperia phones. I do a lot of video editing, livery design, basically all the "busy bee" stuff that I don't like wasting time on when my rig is set up in front of the big screen. It's also great for non-action/racing games like No Man's Sky and Farming Simulator and stuff like that.

As others have mentioned, it's useless for any kind of competitive play. The latency can be horrible at times (even on my 5GHz WAN) and it frequently drops frames and pixelizes.

Definitely fun to use. It is driveable if you use X and ⏹ instead of the normal scheme. The phone I use for Remote Play has a small screen, so I guess I’ll just use it for browsing liveries, photos etc or Daily workouts.

Unless something has changed in the last few weeks, it is possible to use a DS4 on iPad via remote play if you have a second account set up on your PS4. I can’t remmeber the process exactly, but I think you have to do something like log in on one account on iPad and then go to your main one on PS4.

I was at the car wash today and while waiting noticed it had downloaded onto my phone too. It wouldn't open on 4g (has to be wifi) so signed into car-wash wifi.
Registered using my PSN ID and it searched.... took a couple of minutes but found it!! Operated it with no apparent lag...... amazing!

Does this mean, if you have a mate's PSN details you could wreak havoc from afar??? :mischievous:
