wow that s2000 and modena are pretty good. did you guys use the magic wand? i did and it took forever because of the low res. pic. the original pic is so low res that you might not tell the difference if it even is a cel shade. well i still have to do the tires and wheels which are a pain..

This is as far as I got when I did it. As you can see I didn't get much done.

hey sinbad are you using a brush to color all of it?? you know u could just use the magic wand a and select an area; then use the color sucker thingy(the one that sucks the color ya know??); then paint bucket that part. it makes it look sharper. we should have requests and like all of us do it and see who makes the best one.

YEAH, I tried the magic wand, but it would leave tiny patches of uncoloured area once I filled it so I used the brush to fill in the patches. Didn't have the patience to do the wheels properly once I got round to them and some bits I barely touched because the "magic" wand selected such a tiny area that I couldn't be bothered to fill it.

How do I get a clean line around the outside of a magic wand selection? (when I fill the selected area the edges are generally jagged and scruffy)
I am now using Adobe Photoshop 7.

A guy at work was playing with a Flash plugin that would do similar art style on any movie. He was experiementing with the X2 movie trailer and it looked really bad ass.

I think this is a little better than my Zonda pic. Still can't get clean lines between filled areas, they're always jagged.
Anyway, here it is:

well just get a pic of what you want[ you dont really want one with a bunch of reflections and stuff] use the magic wand tool... the one with a stick and has like an explosion or something on it. then select an area any area on the car.... use the eyedropper on an area that is surrounded by the marching ants...then use the paint bucked on the area that is surounded by the marching ants.
and like if it doesnt select your desired area use the lasso tool or a paint brush. i dont know the big details for that you should ask the pros. thats jsut what i did.

The easiest way to do it on photoshop is to put the actual car photo under another "layer" in photoshop. Then use the line/pencil/circle tool to trace the "key" points of your car. After about....an hour of work, this is how it turned out.

Pretty decent dont you think? Yeah, thats my M3 ^_^

wow people still post in this forum? anyways an even EASIER but less exotic than sephiroth is to use the cutout filter. but it works a lot better with people then cars which have a lot more lines of definition

That is more of a Vector, but nice Car dude!:D

Edit: With the line tool, every line makes a new shape, so in that, there would be like 100 000 shapes!

LoL, it actually looks pretty good, but I think you should outline it some. It still looks too much like a real car, but its awesome nonetheless.

I think I find smaller, less complex cars for cel shading easier.
Its still not good, but I found this a lot easier than the hummer:
