You can use your PSN user name as your last name in GT6. Then your name will just be your PSN name with an initial in front of it.

This is exactly what I was going to ask about. How do PSN names relate to online names? You can't change your PSN name but you can change your game name up to three times. If you make a lobby, your game name is there, not your PSN name. I could game as 'whatever' but my PSN name wouldn't show up on my lobby, right? How can someone who isn't your PSN friend find you online? Seems like they can't. Your suggestion seems like the best bet but the whole name thing is both limiting and wide open at the same time. See what I mean?
