Now, i'm thikning about getting a psp. Mainly because i want to be able to get online anywhere, without carrying a huge laptop around. The alternative is to get a pda with wifi and a web browser. But, i've heard that pda browsers are often ridiculously slow. So, how fast is the psp's browser? And if anyone knows, how fast is a pda's browser?

Thanks

Jon

It's hard to tell with me because I have a slow connection, but everything seems alright. The only concern (until the keyboard comes out) it takes forever to type something, and if you load a long page, it takes forever to scroll to the bottom. :dunce:

Other than that it's fine.

THe PSP browser is pretty decent. If you remember to turn off the power-saving feature for Wifi that is. ;)
The Wifi really does use up battery. :(

In case it wasn't clear, I mean of course that browsing is much faster if you turn of the powersaving feature for Wifi. Turning / leaving that on makes it much slower.

Ah, I see. I've had it on all this time. I'll turn it off and check later. 👍

The browser is good. It's no desktop replacement, but hey it's not bad. I like to use it whilst watching tv. Getting a bit hooked on news pages and zdnet etc. as they're so easy to read on the PSP :)

Thanks everyone!

How much batery does the wifi use up? Like does it run itself dry within half an hour, or longer? Thanks

It usualy takes 2 1/2 - 3 hours or so for me, depending on what your doing (screen brightness, powersave options, ect.)

There's a 3800mA extra battery that'll add about 2.5 the duration, if you really need it. I haven't so far (have a nice USB recharger cable, my battery typically lasts 4 hours, and I have never needed more than that)

The first thing about the speed, you really need a fast wifi spot.. Luckily I have my own.. (20MB/s). And I always had the powersaving feature on so.. And typing on the thing is like a phone..

Yeah, I can't wait until a homebrew browser is ported with source code, so I can put my p-sprint typing emulator into it. :)

I disabled the wi-fi power save thing and there is a noticable difference with speed. 👍

Edit:
Put your Cache to 2048.. Then you get less problems with loading pages with alot of images...
