I know there's a forum for PSPs in the gaming section but it seems pretty dead compared to this one, so I hope it's ok if I post this here, especially as it's about hardware and not games.
My brother just got a Vita for his birthday, I had a look at it and it's nice and everything but I'm not really interested in any of the games except for Wipeout 2048, and it's a bit big (it reminds me of my old Game Gear!) It got me thinking, though, about something I've had in the back of my mind for a while, which is that I'd quite like to buy a PSP Go!. I'd probably only get a handful of games for it (GTPSP, Metal Gear games, Wipeout Pulse) and load my PSOne classics onto it as well, so I don't need a UMD drive. I know the games are more expensive on the PSN Store, but as I'm only interested in a handful of them I don't really care.
So, can anyone recommend or de-recommend (not sure what the opposite of recommend is) it? I can get a used 'like new' one from Amazon for about £70, so it seems quite appealing to me, or I could get a new E-1000 for £85 but I'm very put off by the lack of wi-fi. I also prefer the Go!'s design to the usual PSP but I'm a bit concerned about the ergonomics for the larger-handed gentleman such as myself. It also seems like the solid state nature of the hardware when lacking the UMD drive will last longer than a normal PSP, but that might just be grasping at straws, I don't know.
I will most likely buy a Vita when the slim one comes out, though, because there's no doubt it's an awesome piece of kit and I'm sure there'll be some games to tempt me by then, I just wish they'd make a proper blu ray-filling Wipeout for the PS3... Not sure what that's got to do with the price of eggs in China, but even so.
