Do explain how.
If you don't mind, let me try... Some of us play GT just because of racing, but some years ago (I think in one of the pre-GT2 interviews, Kaz said that his objective with Gran Turismo was to become way more than a simple video game, the objective was to have a big car encyclopedia where you could experience all aspects regarding the cars, driving them, know more info about them, etc...
If that's the objective, they are getting there. These experiences may not add nothing for those just looking for the driving aspect, I agree...
But, see the size of Gran Turismo community and you'll see that we are WAY more than that. There's a lot of guys really involved with photomode. Serious stuff, awesome works. In the marketplace there's a lot of collectors...
Well. Most will continue to argue but since the very first time GT added those big descriptions and info about the cars it isn't a simple racing game anymore. A simple racing game will feature the name of the car and some engine/weight info only...
Again, those looking only for a simulator or racing game, fail to see these stuff as good things. Those who are car lovers and like the whole experience, know about the car, drive concept cars and stuff (like me) just think that the merrier, the better. I spend a lot of time choosing the color of my car, driving it, just driving it on a road or track, sometimes slowly, trying to feel most of the car that I can. I like to read the descriptions of the car, I've learned some things about cars I didn't knew before Gran Turismo. When you got 1000+ cars with those extra info, that's a lot of added replay value. FOR THE "CAR PEOPLE".
Just tell me wich games had the ammount of info GT has... the first need for speed games are the only ones I can remember. (The first game, produced with Road & Track was amazing in that part). After that the whole mess started to happen... they became only "racing games"...
And now, think about it. If they ever release a game without the whole package and without photomode for example, it won't be the "full" Gran Turismo anymore... A good example is GTPSP, I just got it and I'm loving it. It's a good, quick and fun racing game. But I know its ages from the full GT experience I'm used to.
