Pushing the Limits

I push my car well beyond it's limits. I have many drifts a day where I just go beyond that 90 degree line and I just keep my drift line (I do this with my own cars, not the stock cars in Xlink) barely. Many times, I stall, but those don't count =Þ

only way to really know who is L337 in a game is by comparison really. Wether it be drifting or racing, just about everyone feels like they are hot **** untill they compare themselves with others and its confirmed or proven false :) Like my brother who thought his time was decent in a certain racing simulator (not gt4) untill i blew it away by about 3 seconds.. and i am almost a whole second off the world record time.

yah, I thought the same thing, but then you have one, and ya just love it to death :) That is, if your enough of a man not to run out on it ;) A wife and kid is more fun than GT4 or any game, any day of the week.
A kid can be a pain sometimes though, I took care of my nephew since he was born..anyways to do this kind of style of drifting is kind of easy on Xlink even with all this lag

I'll have to give it a go, I was drifting the Galant GTO last night, it's old school suspension makes for some easy sliding. The TA22 Celica also seems to handle very similarly to the 86, a modded one has nearly the same power and I found similar setups work on both cars. The TA22 makes for a mint alternative to the 86.

Kid keeping you up all night crying...

Yep, sounds like more fun than Initial D Arcade Stage! :dunce:

This pole wasnt really to see who was the best, just to see how people rated themselves on average as far as angles are concerned. As far as getting decent angles, I count myself among the best, but as far as overall skill, I'm not too proud to say I have a long way to go before I rank back up with the best. In GT3 I was up there with at least the top 10 drifters here, but with the advent of GT4, I wouldnt rank myself among the top 15, prolly more like the top 20.

Just remember, we all have areas we could improve in, and its never too late to learn. No body is a perfect drifter. In essence, we are all here in a quest, not just to see who is the best, but to learn, grow, and improve our skills.

There are not many of us here that can boast being able to drift any car on any track, and those that can are to be congratulated, but let us not forget the work it took us to get there. We were all noobs once, and when something bigger and better comes out, we will be again.

As far as I am concerned, thus far in total, I've had about 5-6 hours total working with drifting, setups, etc, in GT4, so as far as the equation timespent(skillacquire), I think I am doing pretty good :)

I Only see 2 posters proof pics, hmmm?

Ive got links to my Vids in my sig feel free to download and give me your feedback 👍

Well, it's just not my style to push the limits anymore lol:lol::p I try to drift smokeless, but with angle, not speed drifting. Like......Ryosuka Gumna had an avatar from a blue RX-7 from a drift compilation video, you see the car drifting very good, but without any smoke. If you saw the video, the compilation, you see the red S14 drifting pretty much smokeless too......

But I think I can push the limits pretty hard....

Edit: OMG, lotsa people that say they can push beyond the limits:crazy: I thought everyone would've been a bit shy on this, but rather then that, people MASSIVELY post they can push beyond the limits!! LOL! The explanation didn't include you should FINISH the whole turn?

Gabkicks
the voices in my head give me more points for smoke

Ah yeah smoke rules too somehow, but.......smoke is so unrealistic in GT4, it looks FAR more realistic without smoke, since that looks exactly like in real life:D

i think that right there is the trouble with this poll. Someone might think quite highly of themselves until they see someone else utterly and completely blow them away. It's a very sensitive poll that way.

Personally, I think I do pretty well with the DS2 and can do what you'd describe as 'push beyond the limits' using it. I suppose the description of 'push the limits' fits my performance with the DFP - I'm still adjusting to it. But even with the DS2 I'm always seeing small ways to improve or making fine adjustments to my entry or settings to get more angle.
I guess because of that, I'll be humble and say I just push the limits.

If your not countersteering, you're not drifting. i personally think this pole is just stupidity...

and yet somehow all of the veterans of this forum have participated..... *sigh* leave it to a newb.....

I think TS hit it right on the head, some people think way too highly of themselves. I only ranked myself that high because I can do it on a regular basis if I want to, and still complete the corner.

Come on people, stop being posers. But again, as some1 else said, this is a very sensitive pole that way, as many of the people who think way too much of themselves havnt really spent any time watching anybody else drift, so they just think cuz they can get it sideways, that they own the road.

So humble. I've seen your drift vids...the angle you manage to get is bloody crazy.

lest anyone doubt why I voted the way I did.... here's a sequence of shots taken from a drift session (me trying to tune my 350Z properly). The setup's not quite right, but I can still pull this style of junk off ;)

Entering the corner:

Halfway through the corner:

Exiting the corner (and yes it was a perfect exit, no over-correction coming out of the corner, just a smooth acceleration out of the drift):

enjoy :)

i like the 350z too. :) i just wish we had body kits/aero kits. i just finnished watching the section of BMI: rotary reborn where they reviewed a bunch of awsome tuned 350 zs. :)

1 way to tell if you are pushing to the limit also is if you can touch the apex/clipping pt and then damn near touch the outside wall when exiting the turn all while sidewayz :)
sorry for getting a bit off topic

dirrrty drifter
How do you guys get such crazy angles????
Tons of experience, and Pratice.
thats the only way. with pratice, and experience, you will spin out a bit, not make some turns, but you learn. you learn what you did wrong, and you ask yourself what can i do better next time. or how can i not make the same mistake next time. you answer that, then go back out and do it. over and over.

Ok, now these 3 small pictures, destroy my whole thought of where the limit is.....👍 I [/b]always[/b] drifted in GT4, so it isn't the lack of experience compared to you, just how fast progress goes, and because of 3 simple pictures:nervous:.... I'm kicked back to my noob feeling I had when I started drifting:nervous::guilty:👎

Edit: Here's a picture of me, drifting, not special angle though:guilty: But I think it looks best out of all my drift pictures I ever made:D
