Here is the Pyeonghwa Hwiparam, and it is from North Korea. It is essentially a rebadged Fiat Siena.

I'm not going to try and pronounce the name, but anyway this is a neat little car that I could see in Gran Turismo 👍

...Voted for novelty value more than anything else. However, this appearing in any game made in "The West", i.e. everywhere else, is slim. No, make that...hmm. 💡

You'll have a better luck finding a Sepp Blatter interview where he's being honest. Honest. :sly:

Edit: the translation of its name apparently means "Peace Whistler." Cool name.

Oh God, this car was featured in the GTP Cool Wall  It's an awful car, but hey, what I like about Gran Turismo is that it tries to represent whatever country out there that has made a car of their own. I would love to see this go up against the Daihatsu Midget (a Japanese Kei-car like the Suzuki Cappuccino is way too much for this)

It's tough to say if this is possible, the odds are around 50/50 based on Japan/North Korea relations if such a car can even be imported there.

From what I know, North Korea (or DPRK) isn't very happy with anyone who supports the USA or South Korea (Japan is USA's ally, if I recall). However surprisingly, Japan does have a recently revised trade agreement with North Korea.

I would like lesser known cars to get in to GT, and this definitely is one. So I certainly approve of this car despite it's origins, as I wouldn't let any global conflict influence my opinion of this (or any) car.

Based on the known specs, it would be a suitable under-300pp car in GT and therefore compete with the likes of low-powered European & Japanese cars like the Fiat's 500 Lounge, Ford Europe's Ka, or Nissan's Pao/Be-1.

But Japan has been applying economic sanctions against DPRK, not only as they are developing nuclear weapons but also as they are not willing to resolve the abduction problem fundamentally (Japan insists they release all the Japanese abducted persons) . Recently, A compulsory investigation into General Association of Korean Residents was conducted, as they seem involved in smuggling matsutake mushrooms. Therefore it is highly unlikely for PD to include North-Korean cars.

You are likely right, as I haven't looked much deeper in the facts about Japan & DPRK's revised Trade Agreement. All I know is that they did agree to reopen trade routes, and was unsure how long this will last. Based on what you said, it seems it will be temporary if Japan declares the recent investigation to be valid reason to close the routes again.

In this case, the chances of the Pyeongwha Hwiparam becoming the first North Korean car in GT is nearly impossible.

It would be nice to have a variety of cars from every country that makes cars, but if that is what PD is eventually trying to do (along with improving the sound quality of the cars in-game), getting one from North Korea would be PD's toughest challenge by far.

I just found out something about the car. The car is ALSO South Korean!

The Pyeonghwa Car Company is a joint venture between the Metal Exporting company Ryonbong General in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK or North Korea) and Pyonghwa Motors in the Republic of Korea (ROK or South Korea). The collaboration was made as an economic project between the divided nations, of which the company's CEO Sang Kwon Park says could possibly lead the way to a peaceful re-unification of Korea.

They have 2 separate locations, A Factory/HQ in Nampo, North Korea and a HQ in Seoul, South Korea.

...Interesting. So in order to promote peace, South Koreans are fobbing off a relic from over ten years ago. Huh.

You know what I think? If they wanted peace and unification, don't give them crap cars, send in Mercs and Audis and Jags by the thousands. Occasional Rollers and Bentleys too, while you're at it. That's gonna do wonders. 👍
