Q about GT5 trolls

Is there anyway to get these people banned beyond in-game reporting and the message Grief Report? My team mates and I have a troll coming into our rooms day after day with new IDs and all that, I've got a video of this guy doing this and one of the people in there told me I should post it here or whatever... I've got the video on youtube... but ugh... yeah I was wondering about this, we've been trying to get rid of him for months I think... anyway, thanks for any help in advance.

The best thing to do is to kick him out of your rooms.. But if you want to lie just have you and about 5 friend report him for impersonating a Sony official... They really frown about that..

Why don't you just kick him from your room? As far as the things you have listed, I'm not sure if there is anything else you can do. But, as soon as you know its him, I would just kick right from the start as opposed to leaving him in your room like you did in the video. You can also mute him so then you won't have to hear him or his music but I myself would just kick him and be done with it.

The host should have backed out of the race and kicked him, part of being a good host is getting rid of trouble before it gets out of hand. You don't mention how long he'd been in, but the fact that the host just carried on to the conclusion of the race, just seems wrong to me. Whilst the experience for everyone was being ruined around him he could have done something about it, instantly.
Going beyond kicking and adding to your block list seems a little bit excessive, in this instance. Had there been derogatory comments etc, then you would certainly have grounds for escalation via fibbing to Sony. It only takes one person in the room to have him on their "blocked user" list for him not to be able to enter the room whilst that player is in.

This is simply not true. I have been in rooms before with people on my blocked list in there too. It only applies if you are the host, whoever is on the hosts blocked list on PSN will not be able to enter the room.

My suggestion is this: whoever is hosting these room, get them to add all his ID's to their blocked list. He'll soon run out of them, get bored & give up.

Well you broke the number one rule with trolls, don't feed them. Kick & Mute without saying a word. As long as you respond to him he'll keep coming back. Trolls are a lot like toddlers, stop giving them the attention and they'll soon get bored of what they're doing.

Well that makes things even stranger, as I tried entering a room a while back. hosted by a friend but also containing a player I know for a fact has me blocked and I was blocked from entering the room.

1. When the host doesn't quit a 10 lap race at Daytona to kick someone like this, that's pathetic.

2. The kid played you guys like a violin. He's probably young, but he's learned he can get you guys to react by doing what he's doing and you guys fall for it. Yelling at a 12 year old using a voice changer who is obviously there to antagonize you, is exactly what he wants, and you obliged. You guys should know better.

Thats exactly my thoughts. Can't figure out why they didn't just kick him. I thought I seen in the video where they were trying to call a reject vote, maybe they are not aware that the host can kick the person without having to do that. Would have took me 2 sec. to kick the kid. I've jumped out of many races myself to kick people like that, no problem.

Sony really needs to allow us to block these individuals by IP or MAC address that way it wouldn't matter how many account they have on their system.

At the least they should allow us to report people for harassment. If an individual receives 5 to 10 or more reports from different players in a short time span (within 1 hour) then there should be an automatic 24 hours online suspension for a first offense. The more offenses the longer the suspension.

Also, if it is one individual trying to report a multitude of individuals then the punishment should be back on the person making the false report.

Too easy to abuse, too hard to police. You see some guys on the boards, get into a big debate, words are exchanged, you recruit some buddies to report the guy and he can't play for 24 hours. Be going on constantly if the maturity level of some people posting on GTP or worse, the people you see in open lobbies, is any indication. Never happen. Sony won't be looking for ways to make people stop spending money and playing games.

You have to use the tools at hand to solve the problem, which in this case is a piece of cake. Hit mute, which I do all the time, if you are a participant, host quits and kicks the offender. Simple.

I did this to record him doing it... if SONY get this... he will be IP BANNED.. you can be IP Banned by SONY, but IDK if you can by GT5. anyway, just thought I'd clear this up.. yes I was trolling him to get him back in the room, so I could get this evidence... I recorded him the first time he came in, but voice was coming through headset and not speakers, so It couldn't hear him being racial and language... Chronic always kicks him instantly, I told him to let him stay for the VID, he said ok. I just don't know dude, I've grief reported him to SONY under Racial stuff. Chronic get the worse messages... He only said "chink" and spoke crap about americans to me...

Easy way to curb a lot of that would be to only allow you to report a player if you're currently in a lobby that the player you're reporting is or was recently in. That way if you have a trouble maker you can kick them, then everyone has maybe a 10 minute window where they are still allowed to report that player. People would not be able to just gang up and report you at will, since they would have to have been in a lobby with you. If you have a bunch of people report you, it would be because you were in a lobby with them and they did not like what you were doing.

Sony doesn't IP ban! IP and MAC addresses can be changed very easily, SONY, and others, know this so they don't bother! I read that there's some file on your PS3 that they remotely delete that causes you to loose connectivity.

My buddy got banned for 6 months for reasons I won't get into, he just used his brothers PS3 and he was back up and running, with a different ID of course.

well, I'm just going by experience, I've never been banned on ps3, I was banned many times on ps2... and that was IP BAN I think.

if not my bad... whatever sony has to do, do it... I don't care what kinda ban it is, as long as it's lengthy or permanent.

No, what it will teach me is not to buy this game, where you can't make a joke with anyone without them taking offense and getting you banned from playing. PD/Sony will never put themselves in the position of playing cop and banning people from playing for anything but the most aggregious offences, if at all. Bad business...

Reporting seems to do nothing. One of the most famous "trolls" from Prologue (so famous there was a semi-competition to make the funniest photoshop/gimp picture of him - copies available upon request) appeared on GT5 - he was doing his usual trolling of the lobbies and subsequent quite serious verbal abuse on PSN for the 1st year of GT5.

I know he was reported hundreds of times by the guys who knew him from Prologue, he was the no #1 most hated guy on Prologue - but nothing ever seemed to get done about him.

Weirdly, a friend who rarely plays on his PS; older guy, married with kids, very nice guy who does a fair bit of charity work - he got banned from the PSN. We've known him for years since prologue, never hurt a fly, never looses his temper (even in situations when most would), always races fast and super clean, generally a helpfull and nice guy - but he got banned with no explanation from PSN grief people..??

Same thing with XBox live - they "accidently" banned a load of innocent gamers, there was a feature on British TV about it, eventually Microsoft receeded and freed up their IDs.

Don't get your expectations up about "reporting" or "grief report", consider yourself lucky if "something" that should happen, does. Grief reporting seems more affective on the "worst of the worst" scenarios i.e. threats etc etc - other than that, it's pot luck..

I'd love to see a net troll be a troll to people in real life... They only think it's funny because they think they're untouchable. If they got shot after doing it, I guess it wouldn't be funny though right?

Well first don't get mad. Only makes it worse. Laugh along with the He Man song.

I hate to say it but I died out laughing through that video. Sorry but that is funny. I know after a while it gets annoying.

But those reporting things you are doing pretty much are there to make you feel better and are useless.

Also he or she is technically doing nothing wrong anyway. Well besides annoying you guys but nothing wrong.

Just a little information for you.

Probably what this guy is doing is coming in without his mic on (so there will NOT be a mute button) and when the race starts turn it back on. Then after the race ends turns it back off.

Nothing you guys can do. He technically isn't doing anything wrong I. Sony's eyes or in PD's terms of service. So no reason he can get banned. Trolling 101 - you don't need get around things to be a troll.
