It seems like whenever there's a post on "How do I win ??? Championship...I keep getting smoked!" there's always answering posts pshawing it and saying they won it with ease with cars of varying power/handling. Did those of you who won these races easily use qualifying (practice) runs to be able to beat the top car, skill, or a combination of both?

To aid those who haven't figured out qualifying: The screen where you choose whether to race A-Spec or B-Spec...the third option is "Practice". If you choose prcatice, you start by coming out of the pit stop and running a lap...the second lap, the timer starts and you can run as many laps as you want/need. If there's a plus (blue) number after a full lap, you can quit practice and when you officially start the race, you'll be in the pole position rather than in sixth. Your tires are also replaced at the beginning of the race, so you don't have to worry about them being worn down by the extra laps.

I know it's bad to bring up old posts, but I wanted to say thanks for explaining the practice = qualifying thing. And I'm sure someone else will benefit from seeing this. This is one of those rare instances that using the search function worked out!

i find practice/qualifying very useful i usually use it for just 1 lap though, just like Formula 1 where they have only 1 hotlap, im happy if i just sneak up a couple places

For one of the championships i kept getting beat by one of the cars pretty badly. So after I got a better car I used the qualifying and did laps until I actually lapped all the cars. It wa sweet revenge on that bastard that was untouchable when I had the lesser car....

I also read about qualifying in this forum... makes winning so much easier when you have a car that is on par with the others in the field. If you have a much better car it makes it kinda boring though.
