Im now up to the 9 hour enduro bout 2 hours in and bored outer my mind how do you guys keep sane through all this lol I'm on a g27 so the practice is good but I seem to be slowly going insane what's some good tips to keep focused through this painful challenge I have to finish it so I can go back online for my drifting so taking it a bit a day won't help and I officially here this track and never will I return after this race haha

I'm curious as well how it's done... I always doze off and fall asleep with the controller in my hands lol

Haha I hope that doesn't happen to me then I'd have to start again bugger that haha

Have you gone for a overpowered car or evenly matched?

If you are pulling away at 10 seconds a lap, it will get boring, if you are pushing it and are only pulling away at 0.1 a second, that makes things a lot more interesting.

ha ha I have to do lots of prep before I start and endurance race, first off I'll make a music playlist that will keep me sane, then I prepare some snacks and make a flask of coffee then the most important part which is roll up a load of smokes.

I'm even powered was tuff for 100 laps then it was like the ai went to ultra easy mode and now I'm a lap ahead so every now and then I let them catch up and overtake them again maybe my car has just worn in or something so I've got more Hp or something but my lap times are slower then when I started so its weird lol

Lol yeah the coffee and ciggys are helping but I'm slowly staring to oblivion lol up to 3 hours now feels like days on such a small track

Same to me , first few hours is ok , but later it getting borred. Next time i will try to pick the same car as AI and with same tyres. But what i'm afraid, if i'm not finishing first in 9h or 24h races then... :D

I could never do that in one sitting. When I did the 4 hour Tsukuba endro, I stopped (suspend race) twice before finishing. Good luck to you man.

Made my own bit of fun I started changing views to mix stuff up (I always use in car) and when I was in far view I held clutch a bit longer then usual and a big yellow flame came out of the tail pipe so I decided to see if I could make that flame bigger in 2nd gear you see a bunch of fumes come out in 3rd you get a quick flame 4th you get a descent yellow flame 5th bit bigger bit of blue in it 6th kinda normal with more blue but if I was in 4th kept the revs high pushed in the clutch changed to 5th and before releasing the clutch rev it up the flame was blue and I'd say a meter long keeping me amused so far lol

1. Always use a worse car than the AI.
2. If that doesn't work, try to use worse tyres than the AI.
3. Don't use the save feature. Pause instead.

205 laps and a ai goes of track they must be getting sleepy too lol

New lil fun thing to pass the time make map scale to 1 fix to car and there you go your own b bit racing game watch the map only lol

Just like in real motorsport :dunce:

Could you imagine that though. Grid walk with Martin Brundle:

"Here's Michael Schumacher, satisfied with his 3rd place grid position in qualifying yesterday, let's see what he has to say before the race"

Michael, with pitgirl holding his coffee, trying to light up a spliff under the pitgirl's umbrella.

"So Michael, happy with starting in 3rd?"

"Yeah bruv, it's wicked innit? Already got my next biff rolled for my first pitstop too. The team have been working hard on pit strategies this year, they can roll a J in 3.2 seconds, so I should be popping in for a quick toke about 3 times this race"

^

I've tried this before on the Nurburgring 4 hours, it didn't work too well. Only other thing I've done was try to help the car in last place work through the positions by giving them a push down the straights and then playing cat and mouse by trying to keep the whole field behind the slow car, even if it requires some dirty driving.

Just read that in a UK accent... Anyone else or was it just me?

Try an Under-powered car. Not too under-powered but enough that its a challange to stay ahead. That may make it a bit more interesting...

What this guy said. To keep endurance races fun, I always pick a car that is under-powered compared to the rest of the competition or equal to. But then again I am used to being bored so picking an overpowered car won't bore me to death in endurance races.

4 hours down had a big break to clear my head a bit but it's going well I'm more focused now I'm now letting them over lap me by 2 then trying to catch up I can pass one car a lap so it's a good challenge

Good luck! Just out of interest, what car are you using?

Holden ss 10 hp under what the fastest car was on the board keeping it Aussie lol plus my real life cars a Holden vz so they look the same handle a bit different though lol

Forgive me of speaking against my own country, but I think UK accents are very annoying :banghead: .

I haven't done any endurance races beyond the 4 hour enduro race. I probably won't be bothering with them either but if I ever decide to try to run them then I'm sure I'd be using the pause button every couple hours or so.

You can also use the endurance save feature if you wish to play other games on your PS3 in between those breaks.

But if you want to use other features in gt5 you can't till you finish the race question when and if I get to the end of this before I finish if I save game and exit and then sign in will I get the online bonus for this race????

Other games... I don't own any other games.

GT5 when in my PS3 a year and a half ago and it has never been removed.

I don't see the point in endurance races. In GT5 tbh.

I posted a thread ages ago asking if anyone's ever lost an endurance race.

The few replys I had stated that they were not prepared to go through it without a guaranteed win. Which begs the question of where is the excitement of playing a game for 24hrs and knowing the outcome before starting.
How boring is that.

5 hours in and something strange has been happing my mind is no longer focused on the road I find my mind wondering off thinking of things I could do tomorrow or what not but when I came to I had completed half an hour with no memory of it and I must of made a pit stop because I had fresh tires I'm not to sure what is going on in the race while I day dream but it is very interesting that my mind has become accustom to the race at the point were the driving is being done in the back of my mind

These are the first symptoms of extreme boredom. I think 5 hours is enough; pit in and use the endurance save feature so you can play another game before you die of boredom*.

*I will not be held responsible if you actually die because you are that bored.

If race drivers were like that in real life, then I think the engineers would be designing and creating a replay button for real life races by now. There is a point to endurance races in GT5, you just have to find the point for yourself.

Yes I've lost a fair few. I try progressively slower cars until I get to a point where I have to drive on the limit and make no mistakes or I will lose.

If there is no chance of losing I won't do it. Without challenge there is no point to doing them at all.

Nope the show must go on I will get these 4 hours done tonight I got money riding on it now my mate reckons I'll crack and give in I bet him 20 I'll make it it's 11 pm now so 3 pm finish and the moneys mine for which I shall get the complete package dlc lol wasn't tempted with my own cash but with his sure who doesn't like getting paid for something they were going to do anyway haha
