Question for enduro racers

Personally, I'd much rather race in a 200 lap online race, depending on the track, than compete in any of the A-spec endurance races. It is much more exciting and rewarding to win or even finish on the lead lap in an online endurance race.

I've only raced this type of race against quality drivers so there is no worries with the people you're racing against.

Just passed the 6 hour mark things are starting to get tuff my hands are starting to ache from holding on to the wheel for so long .my feet are sore from the edges of the metal pedals my left shoulder is numb from all the gear shifting and my back is also from the seat I'm in it's a hard race I have total respect for the real life drivers who do this for a living it is very hard physically and mentally just under 3 hours to go and then I have claimed my victory if anyone is thinking of doing this race for wheel users I suggest some extra padding on your seats and to have a break and stretch a lot for ds3 users try to stretch your hands as much as possible while playing so they don't cramp I think when it comes time for the 24 hrs I mite take it 2 hours a day or so this time.. When I finish I'll post how many laps we're made and the quickest time cya in 3 hours

I don't believe that real life drivers of an endurance race are allowed to race for 9 hours straight. Endurance racing usually consists of at least 2 drivers.

At the end of 24h du Mans 2011 André Lotterer in the #2 Audi R18 TDI was in the car for the final 3h as it was an incredibly tight battle with the Peugeots. This was considered an extensive stint for an endurance driver particularly when he was required to be running at a quick pace. He finished just 13.5s ahead of the Peugeot 908.

Anyway, I think anybody who sits down to a straight 9h endurance race in GT5 is crazy. I did that race a fortnight ago and the longest stint I did was 2h.

Yeah, those 9 hr enduros are crazy. I'm a driving addict and even that is a bit too much for me. At the 24hrs of Lemans, there is in fact a rule restricting drivers to only 4 hrs at once and 14 for the race. In retrospect, 9 hrs is a bit excessive. I've never done one of these races because I can't get myself to drive for that long at once. On Rfactor, I've done some 3.5 hr stuff in leagues but nothing more than that. If there was a way that you could swap to a AI driver in the pits during these races like in B-spec, I'd do it. In fact, that's actually a pretty doggone good idea

Ciggy Break time yeah I was thinking that before if you could just use your b spec driver for a few laps when needed so you dont have to pause and the clock can keep running yeah I'd say this is the first and last time I drive for 9 hours but it must be done for the bet I got going and so I can get it out of the way been meaning to do it since early last year but couldn't be bothered with it almost must up now. I'm getting used to it i have an hour to go its not to bad now I've passed the brick wall and now I'm giving it all I got till the end

If you can drive on I95 for 12 hours, you can do those. Or at least that's what my dad says. I've got my license but even still, I don't plan on doing that anytime soon haha.

Haha yeah wouldn't be fun at all max I've driven in real life was 5 hours and I had a few stops on the way to stretch we"ll I've gotten hungry so I'm gonna go for a maccas run (mc Donald's) help me get to the last half hour of this haha hope I can drive me car normally don't wanna spend the rest of the night in a cell haha

I woke up the other day and felt the urge to do the Madza Roadster 4 hour endurance on Tsukuba. I ended up doing it in one sitting and I must say it killed my desire to do the 9 hour endurance on the same track. It was decent fun all the way to the end but I had my crises during the race.

Nice idea, but requires a decent B-spec driver. I swapped to my B-spec driver in the 9hrs in GT4. Was having a pretty easy time of it, about a lap lead. Let him drive for about an hour, about 2 hours in. It took me the whole rest of the race to catch up, just took the lead in the last few minutes.

rFactor is just plain rude about it. The AI driver is as fast or sometimes faster than me if the track has a good AIW. You can let him run a race himself and he'll be fine. But if you swap to him mid-race, he'll refuse to pass a single car even if it's in a MUCH slower class. Most annoying. I wouldn't mind switching to a(slightly slower) AI driver in races longer than 6 hours at least, that would help the "endurance immersion."

Okay I'm back at the game ready to finish these 30 mins I decided to have a long break cause I've dam well deserved it lol here it goes I'm about to finish the saddest thing I have done in my life a race in a video game that I have just spent 8 and a half hours of my life doing it

Finished 527 laps in 9 hours quickest lap was 56.168 with Holden ss at 600 hp 16 hp under leader car amuse s2000 and still I could manage to slip away mainly from the bends lol thanks to all of you for wishing me luck and having a chat with me through out that crazy race I sure ain't doing it again lol well started at 6 pm and finished at 4 30 am so this is one worn out lil Aussie that's off to bed cya next time :)

You have to take a full set of tyres - Then if it is too easy- you can resort to "bad tyres"

If you have the RA menu enabled you can play a few games

"Brake fade"
Roll a six sided die (Pinch it from your Cluedo set)
1 = Reduce Front Brake Bias by 1
2 = Reduce Front Brake Bias by 2
3 = Reduce Rear brake Bias by 1
4 = Reduce Rear Brake Bias by 2
5 = TCS Failure! Turn TCS to 0 (If you run no TCS - Give yourself a Beer)
6 = ABS Failure Turn ABS to 0 (If you run no ABS - Give yourself two beers)

This should slow you down a bit, but more importantly alter the race for you.

Other "Fun games" can be Gearbox trouble - You have lost the use the lowest gear.

Engine Oil temperature too high - Reduce your upchange revs by 500

Pit crew not ready - Some error with your tyres - you'll have to stay out an extra 1/2/3 laps

Bright spell - Sun has come out - alter the Brightness to its highest setting
Sun obscured - Reduce the brightness to it's lowest setting

The Random factor could make a race a bit more fun - memorable. BUT if you are in danger of actually losing - you can always go back to normal to get the important race win.

I am sure you can come up with some alternatives to break up a long enduro.

After every pitstop you can have the option to fix all the problems - Or that could be the result of a "stint roll"

Persoanlly I would dial down the tyres (I run no ABS or TCS so by my own set of rules I'll be racing with a car full of empty tinnies in the footwell.)

Great post! And possibly useful too. :D

And to Tovey13: BACK UP YOUR SAVE!! DO IT NOW!! This is the one race in the entire game I dread doing and will never do for a second time.

And to PD: One enduro at Tsukuba is enough.

What a great way to get drunk! 👍

Well I woke up and I can't feel my legs at all lol I backed up the save data straight after the race I'm not taking any chances lol I've got got the Judd all set for the 24 hour but I think I'll take this one a bit at a time maybe for the last 24 hour I'll try and do it straight and I'll do a topic on it to see just how much the human body can take mentally and physically I will go to a doctors first to see what the risks are and I'll follow the health warning of a 15 minute break every hour but till then I think I might rest lol

Yeah I run no aids either so I'd be pretty well plastered before the race would finish every few laps or so last nite I'd change to comfort hards to touch up my drifting skills which once I had been overtaken 5 times I'd change back and would take me a fair few laps to get the lead again also for anyone who was wondering if you do the race offline you can save just before the end and sign in and you will get the online bonus

I only do kilometer or mile-specific enduros. I've no time for hour long enduros.

Went to go start the 24hr race and it's raining just great I haven't been on a wet track since I got the game on release lol and now that I'm on a wheel it's no easier any suggestions as to what I do I don't use aids and don't want to if the rain clears in the race no matter how light I steer or brake I'm just spinning hahaha
