I just don't understand the appeal of slapping the biggest, shiniest wheels onto anything that rolls. Reduce the wheel diameter by an inch while keeping the same tire diameter and use something a little more subdued with less surface area (a Y-spoke for instance) and it would be much more attractive in my eyes. Then again, my preference would be a 15-incher with staggered sidewall height front to rear (i.e. 135SR15s in front and 205/70R15s out back).

It's not exactly to my personal taste, but it doesn't mean it's impractical. Could be on airbags... Besides, "style" could be associated with a lot of things.. for instants: Drag racing style, Off road style, etc etc.. (both impractical styles i imagine) See how that works?..

Awww what. Rauh-Welts are the best, no reason to hate them unless you're some Porsche purist or come across the U.S. owners.


Edit: Aaand just seen the Tasteful mods thread. This happens everytime one of them show up in that thread they're posted here.
 
Those are pretty cool. Aside from the illest sticker I dig those Porsches.

Seriously what's with people hating on any expensive car being tricked out? Nothing wrong with building your ideal Porsche or whatever.

Expensive cars can have questionable modifications just as beaters can.
 
Expensive cars are hated on more due to two reasons:

1) You can't afford them
2) If they're horribly tricked out, not only do you have the jealousy of never being able to own one, you soon put yourself in their shoes and say "If it was MY money and MY car, I would've done things differently. You are just stupid"
 
Truth be told though, a 964 (which seems to be what the RWB cars tend to be based on) isn't all that expensive anymore. Even an early 993 can be had for well less than a Jaguar XF.

Still, my issue isn't with the entry fee. I don't like the idea of fender flares as an afterthought on road/show cars (*cough* *cough* Rocket Bunny *cough* *cough*) with their exposed rivets and often contrary-to-the-original-bodylines styling. (The latter isn't a big deal with the RWB 964s, I'll give them that.)

Something else that I just thought of...the Chris Brown factor:

The RWBs are used and abused in that Idlers 12 hour race they run at Motegi, so there's that.

The Rotana's wing (purple one) is a bit too much
 
As it's stated in the other thread, purposeful isn't necessarily tasteful. And just because they're used in their present state, they're not necessarily used to their full potential because of their present state.
