I believe you can register it as a custom vehicle. As someone who has done safety inspections on vehicles before, as long as it is mechanically sound underneath, its entirely legal.

if done better that van could be just fine and a very useful ride...

Picture a conversion van body (nice cushy campableinterrior) on a C30 or E550 25-30" box van ( LONG wheelbase, work horse) chassis and drive train pickup truck bed and gooseneck car hauler behind it.... nothing questionable about the integrity of the platform... and itd make a nice race hauler...

I've actually seen a couple people around here do that with a '69 Camaro and a '30s coupe. Two separate vehicles of course.
