I have an old fried moniter I want to rip apart for kicks. It's been unplugged for about a month, but I've been warned they can hold a charge for a long time. How long?
Can I take it apart without zapping myself?

This includes technical stuff that I don't know what it is.
Screwdriver discarge seems right up my alley (I'd use a big nail wrapped in electrical tape instead), but I can't find somewhere that tells me how to do that. Just poke it, or do I have to short two things? And what two things?
Guess this is beyond the skills of my vast electrical engineering ignorance.
Edit: Short across terminals, okay, BUT:
"Also CRT tubes act like capacitors. I don't know how, but they can manage to recharge themselves even after being discharged. They recharge more if they are given the "screwdriver" discharge. It is best to discharge them slowly through a hight voltage meter."

Damnit. I guess I'll just throw it out.
