I seem to remember hearing somewhere that you could only view DVDs on the PS2 if you had a DVD remote. Can I just use the DS2 controller to access all the menus and options and such?

You can play DVD's without a remote on the PS2. Just use your controller as a remote.
What you heared was from the XboX. For the XboX you need a remote to watch DVD's

Thanks. One last question: Would I be missing out on any special menus or features and such if I chose to use the DS2 controller instead of a DVD remote?

Not really? So are you saying that by using a DS2 I would be missing out on some features, just not important ones?

No man you will be able to access everything just by using the ps2 remote. Its just alittle bit of a hassle bacause ... well its not cordless. :)

It's also a hassle trying to remember just which button does what on the controller, or, settin' the controller down on the floor part way through a movie and hitting a button to go forward or back a scene.

Blah.
