I fiddled with the gearing and suspension for ages and was launching ing 2-3 gear, this car is ment to do high 7's in real life!

Yep I´ve seen a video with him and he was fast, a lot faster than the game. The thing is that the car didn´t burned the tyres to the bone in fact I think he didn´t burned them a single bit. The trick I think would be to use progressive acceleration. That should be a major help for standing starts with rwds (among other things).
