R/C car thread!

Hi this is my first time in this thread, I was wondering if there is any baja bashers here, iv got a HPI baja 5b SS with dominator v2 exhaust, racing carb, high flow fuel lines, hostile mx tires and plenty more mods that I can't remember ha ha.

The HPI Baja is WAY out of my price range lol. Not to mention I hear they get expensive when one crashes a Baja :sly:
Anyway a couple pics of the used Axial Exo Terra Buggy I bought from a friend:

Has a Castle Sidewinder ESC, a Castle 3800KV brushless motor, and a Futaba 4 channel receiver. Will wire up the lights sometime soon, maybe when I install the new servo I have on the way.

Nice car. Ye they are expensive especially when you crash it like I did see here http://youtu.be/8IlwxGYBQX0 this was a very expensive crash lol. There a lot of fun if your willing to pay. The stock parts are cheap and brake you literally have to spend more than the cars worth just to have a decent time playing with them without something breaking. But once you have upgraded most of the parts all £800+ of them you can bash them about all day without anything braking.

Yesterday, I took part in a drifting event on the Sparrow Hills RC drift track. I haven't been racing there for a long while (more than half a year), and my car wasn't maintained properly, so my performance was an epic fail. But I still had fun and the time was spent good on this event. :)
Before the battle:

My car is the white RX-7 FC3S on the right - "Rotary Power" team. I knew I was going to lose... :D
My teammate had a green FD3S - the rightmost on this "parking".^^
He performed much better and finished 7th overall (of 30 participants).

Also, I like this body:

I need to get more bodies for my Nitro RS4 and TT-01 lol. Probably gonna be getting a new HPI Zonda F body, a Tamiya R34 Z-Tune GT body, and HPI IS-F Racing Concept body sometime soon. Haven't decided what cars the bodies will go on yet.
Anyway lights all wired up on the Exo Terra:

I just wanted to say something.... 🤬 the E10 chassis. I swear it is a time bomb designed to go of exactly when you decide to hop-up and go faster than the stock 12mph. Finally, (and after lots of trauma and melted plastic) my E10 has (almost) all-aluminum essential parts. I can finally leave brushed and go for a brushless combo.
Can anyone suggest a Brushless ESC-Motor combo for on-road use? I'd like my car to be around the 50mph range so it can be competitive. Also, budget is around a $100. Thanks!
And also btw I have a Reedy 3300kv brushless motor lying around, but I don't know how fast that is. Any idea?

I heard of similar stories of E10's not being tough enough to handle high power. And this is why I am still unsure if I want to go brushless in my Tamiya TT-01.
But as far as brushless motors go I recommend Castle Creations, as my lone brushless is made by them. Although, their motors lack sensors, so the motors kinda studder a bit at uber low speed like any sensoess brushless motor.

Whats up yall! I happend to stuble upon 2 R/C cars the other day while doing some scrap metal. The only reason I didnt chuck them in with everything else was, I actually raced R/C cars with a few of my friends in Boy Scouts. So 10 years later I saw them and it was like a Flashback... Anyways I wanted to get a little help in IDing the the car and buggy I found so I can rebuild/fix them.
Right Now my objective is to just get them running, when you see the Pics youll see what I mean. In the futrue I will look into upgrading.

This is the Buggy or Truck not sure.

And this is the car.

The car is in much better shape:nervous:
I was also curious what scale they are, they are 16"x9 1/2"

Any help in getting info so I can start ordering parts for the rebuild would be greatly appreciated.

I have no clue what those two are lol
And going by the dimensions you mentioned, they are roughly 1/10 scale. No manufacturer names on the chassis or any of the other parts?

Anyway an update on my Exo Terra Buggy project. Ignore the HPI Nitro RS4 MT2 rear wheels/tires, as I need new rear tires lol

100_6083s.jpg

100_6084s.jpg

Cut off parts of the front "hood", as the corners had cracked from rolls
Removed the rear wing
Relocated the rear shocks
Removed the rear seats for better ventillation

Still need new shocks, the previously mentioned tires (though I will probably get both front and rears), metal front shock towers, and metal roll cage/rear shock mount braces. Also plan on mounting a spare wheel on the back, Baja style :sly:

Well, the inevitable happened.
I've listed my heavily hopped up (and heavy grief inducing) E10 on ebay.
I've also just won an auction for a Sprint 2 Flux. Should arrive next week. I'll be sure to upload pics.

The only names I could find are on the front bumper/body mounts.
The cars says Andy's and the truck/buggy says Jrx2.

It's an old 1/10th Losi Jrx2.

That other looks like a Bolink car but not able to locate anything like it in google.

It has some old RC10 looking suspension parts. Making me wonder if its a custom job or a conversion.

I will send picture over to my friend that is an RC Guru and see if he recognizes that chassis.

We are thinking the flat on-road car is a custom job made from an old RC10.

I want to get into R/C so I thought I'd ask you guys. A while back I had a Tamiya Grasshopper, I ended up trashing it, but it was a lot of fun. I live on a very open farm with a few dirt tracks. My budget is around 200 English pounds and I've seen and liked the looks of a brushed motor Traxxas Rustler RTR. Is that a good beginner truck? Many thanks.

Thank yall very much I will get started on finding parts for them.

Two final questions.
Is RC Chop Shop a reputable site like Tower Hobbies?

I also wanted to know what parts would be easier to find. The originals of custom.(due to age). If I do/have to continue what the owner started can you recommend some suspension and drive-train parts that are interchangeable.

Thanks a million!

And another update on my Exo...
Added Gmade Piggyback shocks (93mm front, 103mm rear), ST Racing Concepts rear shock braces, and put on some Traxxas Slash wheels/tires that I got on sale at a hobby shop. Spare tire is also firmly installed to an aluminum plate that I had a friend make for me. Also only 2 of my 5 LED headlights work now lol. Going to get an LED light bar later on...

I started with the Rustler a while ago, about 15 years ago actually. I'd say that it's a good car for beginners, not too fast, and pretty durable. It should be a good choice if you're going to run it in the dirt, but I'd stay away from building large jumps. I managed to bend one of the screws in the front wheel assembly by taking it off about a 5 foot drop.

If you plan on running it on asphalt or concrete a lot, look into a set of road tires for it. Otherwise, you'll wear down the stock rear tires pretty fast. Either way, it's a fun car, and a good one to get into (or back into) the hobby. You might also want to check out the Traxxas Slash, the 1/10 scale 2WD brushed motor is around the same price as the Rustler (according to Tower Hobbies). I haven't kept up with the hobby much, so hopefully someone one here might be able to tell you more about the Slash.

I have a pretty cool rc trophy truck but its had loads of parts fail and bits fall off.the truck is a electrix rc trophy truck but I've put in a 5000 lipo battery and a dynamite 20t motor and it is very fast,so fast that its destroyed 2 rear tyres and a couple of gears and the shell has split in half from the huge wheelies it does.

Just looked at the slash, It looks a lot better, but do you think it would be able to take a few bashes. I'm not going to anything crazy but I'm new to the hobby so it won't be driven with as much 'finesse' as it might be used to

Honestly, I'm not sure about the Slash's durability. I hope someone here knows a bit about it and can help (or check out R/C forums - there are probably a few threads about Rustler vs Slash). I do agree, it looks better than the Rustler. I know all about driving R/C cars without finesse. In addition to the bent screw I mentioned, I also had to replace a small plastic bar in the front suspension after hitting a brick wall at a shallow angle. For all I put it through, the Rustler held up to the beatings well enough.

Most I know about the Slash is that it... looks rather toy-like in build. Entire chassis is plastic, along with well, just about everything else is (for lower end models anyway). Apparently it is very durable, as I know a couple people at work with them. Honestly, I'm not much of a fan of Traxxas stuff myself lol...

Thanks for the help, I'll watch a few videos about them and then pick from there I think. Sounds nasty what you did to your Rustler, but you only had to replace a small plastic bar after hitting a brick wall? That's some pretty good durability. I'm going to try and stick with Traxxas, seen as it's a pretty high-end brand.

@Venom - All plastic? Gears? Wow, I'm not that sure now...

Well, the gearing is metal as far as I know. But all of the chassis, much of the suspension, and the shock absorbers are plastic. I know a couple of the guys at work bought all sorts of Pro-line upgrades for their Slash VXL's. Basic brushed Slashes are essentially entry level short course trucks. That is really about as much as I know about the Slash lol
I actually briefly considered getting a Slash VXL, but then I experienced the glory that is the Axial Exo Terra Buggy :sly:

All Axial products are Beautiful, I was going to get an SCX10, but they are £350, I'm not spending that on my first real RC!

Yeah, I paid $350 for my SCX-10. They ain't cheap, that is for sure. But they are cool as hell lol :D
I might have to post some new pics of my SCX10 later. I would post a pic of all of my 1/10 scale R/C cars if my HPI Nitro RS4 MT2 wasn't in pieces lol...

i started out with a slash 2 years ago and have been using pretty rough. Also, if something does break the parts are fairly easy to find and fix.

Been eyeing a few RC's lately.

Losi's 1/14 Mini 8ight Brushless Buggy. (Specifically the Drake Edition)
2B7EC45E-E807-419C-8C8A-8CE676A96E02-20691-00000C64EACB8094_zpse7ccac30.jpg

Losi's 1/24 SCT Brushless (micro 4wd Stadium Truck)

The Mini 8ight would be mine. Upgrade shocks, gearing. Pick 2s and 3s lipo's for it. As well a few 1/10 TC wheels and tires for street runs.
It seems like a fantastic mini and has its bigger brothers character in a smaller package.
http://youtu.be/bycG_SdBXrg

The micro's I am thinking of doing getting my boys for Christmas and doing the lipo upgrade. They are 10&12 and have several years RC experience.

Got a couple Micro T Baja's I plan to get out and going for the GF's kids to bash around when their over here. Maybe she will get her boy one the SCT's for Christmas.

Anyway. That's my thinking right now. ;)

Edit: last night I was checking out the Team Associated RC8.2e RTR. Man that thing looks more fun. I haven't owned anything (that ran) bigger then 1/10th scale. At the price this thing comes in at and the reviews I've read. This prob will bet choice.
