Same here. Le Sarthe was excellent. I bought every car possible from the New Car Dealership, any car I didn't have from the Online Dealership and every car that popped up in the UCD plus a few duplicate LMP racers which total 1060 cars and still I don't have the Chaparral 2J or that little Suzuki two-seater racing vehicle I used to love to drive. I have six level 40 Bobs and a couple of them are excellent drivers, winning everything I set them to.
I sure hope Polyphony Digital has another similar race to that Le Sarthe race. That Spa-Francorchamps was basically just a learning exercise for the Le Sarthe race with pitting and tire selection. It was just a bit too easy since I don't think it was possible to lose (really). The Spa race was OK for getting an easy 4 mill credits, though and I unashamedly did take advantage of it about 15 times or so just to test different cars in that category. I tried all the NSXs because they look so cool but never tried any of the other cars in that category and I had bought all of them.
I think I ran into some set parameters at Le Sarthe that didn't allow you to move up but so many positions early in the race. I had cars that could destroy any of those opponent cars, but then the opponents started double-teaming (running side by side, seriously) and actually blocking me from getting past. Sometimes opponents in front of you would slow down so the rest of the pack could pull away. They also suddenly became able to hold off my cars running past them in a draft sometimes topping close to 245-250 mph (the same cars I could fly past earlier).
Although I had cars that did win by 15 to 30 seconds, I don't think I ever got below the 40 minute mark although I'm sure my cars in theory should have been able to. If I moved up too quickly in the standings, my car would start to slow down in lap times despite being paced full up (I don't think it was the rain, either). I'd broken away from the pack completely a couple of times by pitting out of sync but that didn't happen very often. Those cars could move like crazy on lap ten for some reason and that's why they would fly off the track at the end of Mulsanne. I also found out if you didn't push too hard and let your Bob do the passing and such, you had a much better chance of winning (as long as you had a better car than opponents, which was pretty easy to do) than constantly issuing overtake commands.
I really, really enjoyed the Le Sarthe race more than any other B-spec event except for maybe Daytona Infield race against the 2J, because of the strategy and a couple of ways to win at Le Sarthe. Give me 6 million credits a race and I'll spend all day at it. I suck at online A-spec trials (I've got no wheel yet) so give me some B-spec and let my Bob's do the driving.
