I knew I heard of two races, so I am seeing the Las Vegas event for the first time as I make this post. There was a good amount of attrition in that one! Maybe not as brutal as the Texas event, but there was a good bit of action in the Las Vegas race. Pretty nutty race the Payday 362K was. All congratulations to (the Payday 362K winner).

[OMISSION] No pun intended regarding "nutty" and Payday. I'm probably sure you already know that.

RACE Discussing Possible Championship Formats For 2017

Following a double header weekend, RACE officials are heavily discussing the 2017 Championship format. Not much has really been confirmed, as most of it is spitballing at this point, but it is worth noting that a "Win and You're In" and a "No Chase at all" format have both been discussed. However, even though "Win and In" has been mentioned, nothing has been said about Elimination rounds, which could set up potential for an entirely new Chase format, never seen in NASCAR. It's anybody's guess at this point, but many are happy with the current format. Officials did mention they wanted driver's opinions; so it's a rather open discussion.

I think the win and in system would be better without the eliminations. The eliminations are what really make the Chase horrible.

The proposed "Win and Youre in" method would either be a 16 or 12 person grid. regardless, 2 spots would be reserved for points scorers, but the other 14 or 10 are locked in by winning a race and being in the top 30 in points. No knockout rounds, the only reason a win matters is it locks you into the chase; and will give you bonus points for every win after your first win when the points reset. So win one race and you make the chase. Win two, you guarantee you make the chase (In the event of 14 winners) AND get 2 bonus points, and 2 extra for every additional win. If there are more than 14 winners, the drivers with the highest number of wins transfer first, then single race winners would revert to points, HOWEVER, it would not boot out the two reserve spots, as those are purely reserved for non winners. The biggest issue with that is that a non winner can make the Chase and beat someone who wins making it a bit silly, but there is room to move about.

The Non chase is simple - The current points format, but no reset for the final 10 races.

I'd go with the No Chase At All method. Just to keep things simple.

In regards to the points, I also vote No chase at all. No cutoffs, no resets. Let the champion be decided naturally.

Also, Points are now up to date:

1st: @RESHIRAM5 - 125
2nd: @amaterasu - 124
3rd: @Davis - 115
4th: @AudiMan2011 - 113
5th: @RedDragon - 110
6th: @KuniKino****a - 109
7th: @Ph1sher - 109
8th: @GTRacer22 - 109
9th: @SVX - 108
10th: @rcb929 - 107
11th: @vetteman24 - 100
12th: @Smurfybug - 100
13th: @JockeP22 - 100
14th: @Clayton Hardy - 100
15th: @Jordan - 97
16th: @Akmuq - 91
17th: @tbwhhs - 78
18th: @Skython - 20

"We qualified well and we once again showed our entire team had pace. Unfortunately, wrong place and time for me once again and it was the same with our teammate in the 30. Great job to the 33 though, they've been carrying the banner for the team and its showing in the points.

Abit all over the place when it comes to this place. 33 Team qualified well so its not a team wide issue, just need to bet translate it to all cars. We didn't finish high like we wanted after basically being stuck in the second pack, but we finished a race and that's basically what we need to do more often to improve our position in points.

@RACECAR After Phoenix, I had 85 points... so.. why does post-Vegas say I still have 85? I finished 10th...

Massive oversight on my part. I'll fix that.

On a more sincere note, I haven't seen any races with my primary livery yet? The GT Sport livery was only supposed to be for a select number of races but that's all I've seen to date.

Why do I feel like we'll have to re-submit our schemes to Nas.....

If my stuff is in order, it ran at Daytona and that's it.

@RACECAR What are you using as your ROTY scale?

Well I don't know if I would say I'm using scale, I'm simply using points based on the finishing order of the rookies. Points system based on finish is about the same but instead of looking at where they finished in the field, I'm going by where they finished relative to each other.

I apologize if it makes no sense to anyone else, but I wanted to make this as simple as possible.

Man, it is really tight!

...Nas seems to like it, you're keeping up with it, go nuts. I'll keep marking rookies on the overall points table regardless.

My take on the points structure...Without the chase in S1, Ninners would have held onto the championship by perennial contender goofytyler and a charging turbo_snail, who tie three points short.

Win and you're in...there were 26 winners in S1. I don't think this is the way to go knowing that, and knowing we have six MORE races to screw the system up even more.

I see only two options. Either leave it the hell alone, or eliminate the chase entirely. Looking at the book, by eliminating the chase RACECAR (out) would have been 7th, quietgirl (out) would have finished 9th, Roflwaffle (S1 Daytona winner out) would have been 11th, CodDemon aka ScuderiaLucas (in) would have finished 15th, GTracer98 (in) would have been 20th, and MrUnknown (in but ban) would have been 36th.

I say we go raw points. I'd lose six spots converting S1 to it, but I think it makes it a more pure experience.

RACE TV: Here with RESHIRAM5 about the recent 2 races, with a stellar performance in the first race and a rather forgettable one in the second...

RESHIRAM5: HEY!!!

RACE TV: Thoughts on your performance

RESHIRAM5: Not much to say really, our Honda was really strong in Las Vegas but the Safety Car appearance near the end ruined any chance of winning but coming 6th is still something I can be happy about, another Top 10 finish is always something to be happy about.

As for Armory Digital, the track was so weird when I went out, granted I was just floating all over the place and that incident where I barely survived pretty much scared me, going so fast with this kind of traffic is nightmare fuel. Though as long as I finish higher than what I Qualified, I'm happu.

RACE TV: Before we go, any thoughts on the potential format changes.

RESHIRAM5: Honestly all it does is change where I'm happy. If we do the playoff format, then all I would really care about is actually getting into the playoffs, every after that is hardly anything of my control since you could be the worst driver but 1 lucky win would get you to advance so don't be surprised if I just a phase out and not care if we do change to the playoff system and I qualify.

As for no chase at all, I would be happy winning the whole thing, since every position counts towards the whole thing.

So right now.

Current: Top 10 finishes until the Chase begins
Playoff: Just getting to the Playoffs
No Chase: Winning

Not saying any of these are bad but it would change my expectations in my postioning, and my crew cheif even agrees with me on this though he would still want me to try to win if I went into the Playoffs .

Wow. There's a real shake-up for Jahgee to be replaced thanks to being banned (or banninated or whatever similar term you like).

With the official word that Jahgee has been banned for good, @Skython and @samurai8juice now have full time seats. @Jahgee's points will remain, but he will no longer be racing, and TKU ownership now has been passed to @DurWinning.

Well then, Looks like Skython is suddenly gonna be more present in the ROTY points.

Also, does this allow for the people that wanted to join to have a part time schedule?

No. As both the 11 and 77 were sharing one seat. Now they both have their own

Oh, I had no idea.
Yeah, the only reason both were in Daytona was due to the 46 not being approved. Considering that Skython's lone race result is the highest average finish of the field (12th to 14th & a bit) He might make up ground.

At the rate it's going right now, he'll give you some hell at least.
