In an unannounced press conference, the Rubber Hunters Motorsport team has unveiled their team logo for the 2015 season. The team, composed of American driver Michael "Bambi" White and Portuguese driver Nico Costa, brought forth this logo during the press conference, confirming it to be the team's official 2015 logo.
It has not been a smooth path for the recently created Pontiac team; North-American giant General Motors had several negotiations with the team, and at one point the team was not sure if the new Pontiac G8s would ever be prepared by the company. Fortunately, GM accepted the deal with Rubber Hunters and appointed them as the official factory team for the 2015 GTPFS NASCAR season. However, the development of the new G8 was slow, punctuated by multiple failures regarding the new V8 engine and the aerodynamic modifications. But now, the team has full access to the new cars, and are currently having private practice sessions to assess the car's potential.
As for the logo's story, the team explained that a contest had been held between several different countries to decide the final design. The winner of said contest was Japan's Meiko Taniguchi, who took inspiration from futuristic video games in order to create the team's logo. The symbol which is featured next to the team's name acts as, according to Meiko, tire marks, being a reference to the name of the two-car operation which has their headquarters based in Indiana, USA. Both of the team's members were soundly impressed by Meiko's work, and elected this logo as the winner of the contest.
For now, Rubber Hunters Motorsport has to fight an uphill battle, as the only official representant of Pontiac and featuring the only two Pontiac drivers. But with their impressive perfomances last season, one has to assume that both Michael "Bambi" White and Nico Costa are eager to prove the critics wrong...
Note: Many thanks and credit go to
