yea, it's not very big. but when you download lots of tracks and cars the dir can grow close to 1GB :D

ACremona22, did u try running the config.exe program in the racer directory?
 
Yeah, it can totally kill the fps. The only thing i don't like is that i think the game's grip is actually very low.. I don't think its very realistic. But thats just me.

ok, to get the newest beta of racer working good follow these steps.

- Get the base install at http://www.racer.nl/download/rr052b3.zip (~12Mb).
- After the above, download patch 3.1 at http://www.racer.nl/download/rr052b31.zip (~500K). put in .\RACER
- After that, also download patch 3.3 at http://www.racer.nl/download/rr052b33.zip (~310K) and put those files in .\RACER.
- Then download beta4: http://www.racer.nl/download/rr052b4.zip and put the racer.exe into.\RACER
- Lastly, download beta4.1; http://www.racer.nl/download/rr052b41.zip. This is only the executable. also in .\RACER


download the "spoon shader patch" at http://www.xtreme-racer.com/dl/car/145/s2000_spoon_shader_update.zip (goes in .\racer\data\cars\s2000_spoon\)
update the track "carswood_nt" with the "DavidIau" patch: http://forum.racesimcentral.com/att...chmentid=119306 (.\racer\data\tracks\carlswood_nt\)
update the track "carswood_nt" with http://www.xtreme-racer.com/dl/trk/7/carlswood_nt_shader_update.zip (.\racer\data\tracks\carlswood_nt\)
download audio pack http://www.xtreme-racer.com/dl/sound/audio_pack.zip (.\racer\audio\)
and finally an update texture for carlswood http://forum.racesimcentral.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=122569 (.\racer\data\tracks\carlswood_nt\)

and you can try these 2 ini's if u don't know what to edit in them for your graphics options. they go in .\racer

I just tried it out and thats exactly what I was thinking. Lots of the cars were very twitchy, especially at high speeds. Anyone hate that renault that comes with the game, feels like it has jello suspension. :lol:

Try pressing the 1,2,3,etc keys. If the car doesn't have the indash view, you'll still get a bumper cam.

Anyone have the Williams 2003 F1 car? The engine won't start for some reason... :rolleyes:
 
some cars you have to have the car in neutral when you hit the starter. so try that. and maybe try braking too. i've never downloaded any of the F1 cars for racer since it's not really my thing.

oh and to get all of that info off the screen hit ctrl+0 (zero). u can hit different numbers with control to get different data readouts. some of them are very useful in setting up a controller that u can't find a default ini for.
 
I got it working. Now time to get a proper wheel.

If the wheel I get isn't in the configure list, do I need to edit anything?
 
I downloaded the game but it wonj't install, it keps coming up with an error, I presume your meant to double click on the file that downloads and keep pressing next, anyone have any idea what to do?
 
Are you sure the drive your installing it on has enough space, it installed fine for me.
Heh this game looks like fun, where's my pc pad at?
 
It's ok I've got it going. I think I need to hurry and get that GT4 wheel cos it works with the PC as well.

I was thinking that too, I can't get my crappo digital pad to work and it's hard with the mouse.
 
Haha, this is awesome.

Bloody hell it looks nice in still shots, how come most of the cars don't want to work with the version I downloaded? Is there a patch or something?

Edit: Ahh buggerit, I give up. I'll try this if I ever get a wheel though.
 
I should really download some new cars for this. I really want a wheel though but I do ok with the mouse.
 
I sort of gave up, most fast cars are freakin impossible to drive with the mouse.

I just downloaded the LFS demo (Yeah, i'm a bit late on that) and uh it's awesome. And you can turn off the auto throttle cut while shifting and same with the throttle blip.
 
The Logitech GT force pro for GT4, it works on PS2 and PC, it's one of the best wheels around.
 
damn i need a wheel like that but with xbox, anyway i have 16 megabyte video (built in I have a laptop), 1.3 ghz celron processor, 256 mb sdram, why is it running so slow at 16 bit 640 by 480? any suggestions.
 
Theres a few xars that require the update for the game the Cobra that red team oreca Viper ect, the only problem is the update won't download at the moment. As soon as it starts working again I'll post the link here.

Oh and the full Nurburgring track is ace, I forgot how long it is.
 
Hell no, I've got the full Nordschleiffe, http://luuk.xs4all.nl/racer/ the working download is at the bottom where you see a dark pic of the track, and it's under release version 0.1 Beta, and it works fine for me.
