And.. since C/S tyres are the cockroaches of the tyre world, I'm going to experiment with tyre wear at 14X. This might sound a bit extreme, but twenty minutes of racing with 8X wear has virtually no effect on the tyres at all, and I would like to bring in the question of pitting during the longer of the two races.

Cheers, Zo.

Good stuff.

So, having got both the name of the circuit and the date wrong in the title, I quite liked how it worked out in the end.

Firstly, I have to say congratulations to Sparks, Mark, Goofy and Suts for giving ABS Zero a go. That's the most wheel-lockers I've raced with since the TAM days!

And, of course, congratulations to Sparks for his overall win, and Famine for beating him home in the second race.

Rich, Mark and Goofy all finished on the same points, with Andreas just a fraction behind Famine and I. If the meetings for the 'Serious Championship' are as good as this one I'll be very pleased.

In the second race Rich gets a belting start, passing Suts off the line... (Notice that Famine doesn't know how to spell 'toe'. Modern education is dizgraseful…)

Despite spending much of his time on his own in the second race, Goofy was still hitting the apexes perfectly to the last lap

There was plenty of this sort of behaviour from the feisty Alfa. 'Serious Racing Sideways'. Thanks for the production of the number decals Mark, they will definitely be mandatory in the Championship.

Sparks stalks Mark and Andreas

While Rich has a 3.5second lead, and the fastest lap...

Before his tired tyres let him down, and disaster strikes, Andreas slips through.

Suts climbing the ABS Zero learning curve, with well controlled differential of rotation between the front and rear wheels

Resulting in a tiny puff of smoke, the Zero ABSers badge of honour, sort of...

Managed to pass me, sideways up the inside, too, cheeky b...….

Famine found himself being stalked by Andreas.

And Mark was putting pressure on Rich on lap 24.

Andreas holding the lead, with Rich, Zo and Mark behind. None of these had pitted, but who's that behind Mark? Famine, on his brand new tyres, and who the hell is that further back? Sparks! Proving that heavy damage need not ruin your race, if you get it about 30 metres from the pits!

Finally, Zo attacking Rich at the fast chicane, what a glorious feature of the track that is... sometimes.

Cheers, Zo.

Greetings folks. This Tuesday we'll be having some wifeswa…… Sorry, car swapping fun around the Alsace VillageII course. It works like this...

When you come into the room you'll be allocated one of the cars by the use of my magic dice. You might have the same as someone else, you might not, who knows. Anyway, you can cane that motor around the circuit as hard as you like, and its C/S tyres won't lose a gram of rubber, because tyre and fuel depletion will be off.

At 8:30 prompt we'll kick off the first race. Alsace is quite long as circuits go, so it'll just be four laps, so we can get plenty of races in. The grid will be slowest first, and the chap who has bagged himself last starting position will get 10 points, 9 for second last etc. Then there will be 10 points for the race winner, 9 for second etc.

When that race is finished, the person who comes last will have first choice as to what car to use for the second race. The one who came second last can choose any of the remaining five cars, and so on, until five of the cars have been taken. Everyone else (presuming there are going to be more than five of us) gets the last car left. There will be no points for grid positions in this or subsequent races.

The second race will start with drivers in the same positions they finished the first. But, of course, those behind will (I hope!) have themselves quicker metal. If this isn't working out in respect of producing close racing, we'll switch to reverse grids.

In any case, we will continue having four lap races, with the same, repeated, car allocation system for as long as time will allow, with the same points system throughout.

Now then, what are these motors of which I speak?

They are, in the order my minor testing has found them to perform, Nissan Fairlady V '07... Ford Mustang GT '15... Ford Focus St '15... Toyota MR2 Gts '97... Toyota 86GT '15... Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 '13.

Please set you cars within the N300 category before you get into the room, as BoP will be on, and you'll have difficulty finding them if they are above or below N300.

Usual assists will be available but, for those who fancy it, each of these cars perform quite well without ABS. Just thought I'd mention it ;)

Total cost of the cars, 199,012cr, and I think that most of us will have all, or nearly all, of them already. They're all fun, by the way. Even the Hyundai's got its own, 'god, that bit's fallen off now!' charm :)

Cheers, Zo.

I liked that livery of yours in the last race, Suts.

Well, I managed to take out BB. Managed to take out Zo.
Became an alibi to a supposed crime apparently (I'll keep shtum, promise).
Heard a sleep-talking Suts and enjoyed the delicate services of an expensive and experienced fair lady.
All in all an eventful evening, I'd say.

Oh and Famine mentioned something about recording voices, the only time I remember
ever having tried that was with the Elgato device on the PS3 and GT6. I recall Famine referring to
himself as a nerd then.
@ 1:33

Some NSFW by Zo there later on.

Managed to take out Zo.
I deserve it Jocke, I'm a bad boy

I've knocked up some piccies of yesterday's adventures chaps...

BB finds driving whilst wearing a straight-jacket harder than he expected.

Suts continues with his ABS Zero development...

BB and Sparkz have a tight...

finish.

And having been third on the grid, then dropped to last by his start line glitch, Goofy snatches 2nd on the approach to the last corner on the final lap. Nice drive Goofy. (By the way, Sparkz never deserved 2nd in that dull-as-ditch-water Hyundai. The boredom Police are out to get you Sparkz!)
dice4.jpg

And so, finally, we have the scores.

I'm afraid that Suts' daughter/wife have a lot to answer for. They cost him points, and he came in last, with 29.
'Smasher' Jocke, despite bringing his specialist Racers Reunited Livery, found the cars not to his liking. He pips Suts to the line, with 31 points.
BB beats Suts and Jocke, but I feel his lack of ABS Zero experience showed, that damn Mustang was sideways on the entry to nearly every corner. BB scored 39 points.
Goofy's start-line glitch, and Sparkz's unusual number of mistakes cancelled each other out, and meant that they both ended up with 45 points.
Famine, despite ranting about the inadequacies of each of his motors, won twice and managed to accrue 52 points.
However, also with two wins, Zo comes out victorious, on 55 points. Told you my dice was magic!

While the Muira is a wonderful tool, it's come to my attention that not everyone can get their mitts on one. Let's postpone the Classics for a while (I'm also going through a patch of not knowing down from up when it comes to evenings and weekends.)

Okay fellas, this week we're having 'Rich Vs Poor' racing.

The two cars eligible are the thundering Chevrolet Camaro SS '16 (35K), and the silky smooth Aston Martin DB11 '16 (238K).

With the Chevvy set to 118% power and the Aston at 89%, they have about the same level of oomph, but, at 100% weight each, the Corvette weighs in 100kg lighter. I'm taking these as a baseline for now. Updates may come!

You can use either, or both cars as you wish. Default tyres will be S/M. However, the winner of any race has to wear S/H for the next race, whilst coming last lets you use S/S for the next battle. Tyre and fuel deg will be set at X1, and the races will be quite short, at just 8 laps... of where? I hear you ask.

Well, I'm glad you asked that... we're going to Autopolis! Good grief this feels like a wa***y old circuit when you first get on it. It's narrow and twiddly. Horrible. But, get to know it and it turns into something quite different, a technical delight. Half an hour of fighting the lines has really got me loving it, and I hope that you will too.

Grids will be slowest first for first race, then same as finishing for subsequent races. (Exceptionally fast drivers might need to put weight on, we'll see.)

These are quite hastily made arrangements chaps, and may be subject to tweaking. Watch this space.

Cheers, Zo.

Update, 'Corvette' referred to above is, in fact, the Camaro.

Update, update, and its weight will be set at 97%.

Update, update, update, I had an idea about running a race where half the grid had S/S tyres and half the grid had S/H tyres. Tyre deg set at X20, with the theory that those of softs would sprint off into a lead, and be hauled back in towards the end of the race (no pitting would be allowed). So, I tried a little test, and found that with S/S tyres fitted, after 8 laps, when the tyre indicator was showing literally zero tyre left, the DB11 still lapped faster than it did after 8 laps on S/H. The total difference in the time it took to do 8 laps was 13.7 seconds, approximately. So, I've binned that idea. Just thought I'd let you know.

Cheers, Zo.

Ok, so wtf are we actually doing?
As I understand it:

Chevrolet Camaro SS '16
118% power, 95% weight

Aston Martin DB11 '16
86% power, 100% weight

Choose either car, fit Sports Medium tyres, race eight laps of Autopolis.
Winner must use Sport Hards (again either car), last place may use Sport Softs (again either car), lather, rinse, repeat.

Stuck in download land. Forgot there had been another update. Will be with you when it finally finished. It’s v slow!!

That was loads of fun. Really liked the car/tyre/track combo. Wasn't brave enough to try the Chevvy, but was enjoying the Aston too much to care.

Good choices Zo!

I'll be out for the next 2 weeks, back on the 2nd April

Good choices Zo!
Thanks BB, but it was just stumbled upon by pure chance. I really, really enjoyed it.

Autopolis seems to have the perfect blend of difficulty in overtaking, whilst presenting enough chances for someone to make an error, allowing the chaser to get though; it's brilliant. I never appreciated a track that is tricky to make a clean move on so much before. It led to some close and hard fought battles.

I'll be out for the next 2 weeks, back on the 2nd April
Glad you mentioned it, it reminded me, I'm away on 26thy March too.

So, I've got to try and follow the Autopolis shenanigans now...

So, there I was, trying out motors for another rich car poor car sort of thing, only this time using N100s. You'd be surprised what's down there you know.

Firstly, the Abarth B.A.T. 1. What a nice car it is and, at 1Mcr it fits the bill. Then on to the Dino. It is a cracking motor.. but just a little too ready to stab you in the back. A bit like Lord Baelish. Still entertaining enough, and at half the price of the B.A.T. I thought we might include three, or perhaps four cars this time.

So, on to the cheapos. The Honda S660 is a cracker, but we raced that quite recently. Still, at 17Kcr, the Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA) 89 might do. I bought one, got it on the track, and fought with myself to find reasons why it shouldn't be the only car involved next Tuesday. It is absolutely fantastic!

Therefore, that's what we're doing. 7 lap races around Dragon Trail Gardens, in the Eunos 89, set at 120% power, 100% weight, tuning not allowed. C/M tyres as standard, and we'll see how the C/H for winners, C/S for those who are struggling work out with this car. Deg will be at X1 for fuel and tyres.

Don't forget your wonderful liveries, and sense of humour 👍

Cheers, Zo.

Evening Gent’s.

I’m not going to make it tonight. A bit gutted as the Mazda is phenomenal even with zero abs.
Have a great time.

Not sure if they have a race every Tuesday, if not I shall be joining all of you as usual.
