I've tried all the various tunes helpfully posted by others to get that Fiat around Trail Mountain and finish first. I'm still 14 seconds behind the Audi!

The consensus seems to be to keep smooth, fluid, and try not to brake.

Well, here's where I feel I have to brake....

Start off full speed. I can take the first big left hander going into tunnel one without letting off the gas. The first right hander after exiting the tunnel I have to brake to avoid hitting the left hand wall.... I can get around the next right hander OK with full gas, but of course I'm already slowed from the earlier braking.

The next left hander into the tunnel I can usually make if turning early enough, but sometimes I hit the right hand tunnel wall!

The straight is a breather! The left hander at the bottom of the hill.... I have to brake on the straight, but a couple of taps is enough.

Through the shallow S at full speed, and again off the gas and a tap of the brake for the sharp right.

The sharp left at the bottom of the hill again needs the brake.... then it's flat out to the finish.

This generally takes me 2.06+, 3 seconds off what's needed.

I am obviously braking too much.

Any experts care to share???

I'm no help really. You can cut the last corner, over the grass to keep your speed up for the start straight.

Thanks... I do sort of do that (didn't want to mention I can't win even with "cheating"!!)

It's not cheating, or you would be disqualified. Do you tune your car, then de-tune the engine to fit into the race. This gives you a better power curve.

Yep... it's my driving that's slowing me down, not the car!

Practice is the only advice i can give. I started with times bout like you and now I'm consistent 2-5 secs off. Would of beat it earlier today except i got too greedy and hit the wall 3 corners from the finish and lost by 1.2xx.

Do you usually play with racing softs?

What do you want to hear from him?

That he often drives with comforts or sports tyres?

Best tips I can give u is don't brake just let off gas for a bit before the long tunnel, always drive close to the wall on the yellow parts, and cut that last corner. I beat it today doing this by 0.112 seconds

The AI cars follow a script, so they are always where you expect them to be. You can use this for drafting, usually through the long tunnel. It's also important you learn what speeds to brake down to for each corner, for instance 60 mph for the corner after the previously mentioned tunnel. Work on catching and passing each AI car a little earlier each time and you'll get there eventually.

this is a hard event. HARD, i am a pretty average driver, so this was a big challenge. think of it like this ON FIRE FOR FIVE LAPS, NO IMPERFECTIONS, LEWIS HAMILTON, AYRTON SENNA, GO, GO, GO, GO, GO, MORE SENNA THOUGHTS, GO, GO, GO, GO, OH HEY A CORNER, SMOOTH, BUT MORE SENNA THOUGHTS.

I'm no expert but, you need to be very smooth and precise with the steering.

The more you turn, the more speed you scrub off in a lightly powered car.

Carry as much speed as you can thru the corners and get back to full throttle as soon as you can without pushing out.

This is particularly essential on the left turn exiting the tunnel and the next hairpin at the end of the wooded straitaway.
As shmogt recommended, stay inside on these two corners to take advantage of a little extra banking, to carry more speed and get off the corner faster.

Otherwise its just a matter of practicing and improving until you win.

Jut do consistent laps of 2:04. At the beginning of the 4th lap make sure you are no more than +27 seconds from the leader.

I went for a fully adjustable transmission and dropped the max speed to increase acceleration out of breaking points......also went for height adjustable suspension and set car low, updated air intake for 65kw & minor weight reduction to 1000kg.....you shouldn't to do loads of upgrades and then re-adjust.....& use the kerbs across corners.....

takes a few attempts, 6 for me, and had to adjust power % a couple of times as it increased after a few attempts.....

The lotus challenge, yuk, 4th is my best at this point, I assume you win the Subaru required for the 3rd challenge as I can't find a 18" special version to purchase.....

Actually, do upgrade everything possible on the engine and then de-tune back to the required 65hp. It will have the effect of increased torque which helps acceleration on corner exit.
I've come within 1.2xx seconds of first in this race and it's taken me many tries to do this. A perfect race is needed in order to pass the leader, or very close to perfect. Make one mistake like kissing the wall and you need to restart. Another tip: if at the start finish line, you're anywhere besides first, pause BEFORE you cross, choose restart race and go again. If you gained any hp from the previous 5 laps, it won't matter because you'll not be going back a screen and needing to de-tune engine to fit regulation. I don't think it's a glitch per say, but it does help to not have to keep lowering an already weak engines performance.

This was hard, but I did manage it with this tune. Shirakawas I think.
Upgrade everything except turbo, it increases your PP rating.
Ballast = 146 kg Position it to + 50
Power limiter to 51.4%
Transmission - Max speed 99, final gear 4.100
Drivetrain - It 5, AS 10, BS 5
Suspension - Height - 20 both. Springs 7.6 and 6.0. Dampers ext 5 and 5
Dampers comp 4 and 3. ARB;s 3 and 4
Camber 2.5 and 2 Toe -0.25 and -0.20 and brakes 4 and 5.

Quickest lap was 2.026 last lap. Two 2.04's and a 2.03.

The corners here I lost most time were the right hander after the first tunnel and the right hander before the left at the bottom of the hill leading to the straight just before the start finish. It's vital to carry speed through these, around 50 mph.
Use manual gears too.
Have fun.
Last tip, don't exit the race, restart it by all means. You will see your brake horsepower go up to 66 after a restart, if yo exit you will breach regs and have to de tune. That 1 bhp is a must in this little car. 👍
The lotus and Sti races are a nightmare so far. Lol.
Oh my prize for the Fiat challenge was a Citroen Race car worth 5.6 mill. Nice.

Hey man, the goal isn't NOT to brake. It's to brake as little as possible.

Sometimes hitting the brake just a tiny bit, will help settle the nose and let you get back on the gas quicker. I used the brakes going into both tunnels, into the first turn after the first tunnel, also at the end of the straight, the tight left/right, and the downhill left hander after that.

I ran consistent low 1:03's, and never cut the final turn (which is most definitely cheating).

You don´t need that 1extra hp (or kw).

I did everything which doesn´t influence the power/weight (except the Window weight reduction).
Transmission: Set the Topspeed to 156 kph => 144 up the back straight and if you draft someone you´ll won´t max-rev.

LSD: 5/5/5 ---> for me it reduces the understeer allot

Suspension: (Front Rear)
Height: -20 -15 (front max low)
Springrate: 12.8 13.5
Bound (compression): 4 4
rebound (extension): 9 9
Camber: 2.5 2.0
Toe: -0.20 -0.20

Brake bias (7 4)

Try to keep the Braking as less as possible.
First 2-3 Corners full throttle. Firts Tunnel turn (Turn 4) keep the speed up to 93-98 kph.
Turn 5: Brake a bit and late downshift in 3rd gear => speed should be 79-83 kph
Turn 6: speed around 98-101kph (minimal lift of throttle)
Turn 7: 104-108kph stick to the inner Yellow part (out-in-out)
Turn 8: Straight should be 140-145 kph and brake to 98-101kph to get the uphill section with 100kph
Turn 9: a little braking keep in 4th gear and 89-93 kph
Turn 10: Same as Turn 9 (speed and braking)
Chicane: If you messed up a bit cut it but you will not need it.

=> I managed low 2:04´s and high 2:03´s to get the first at the Turn before the chicane (on the last Lap)

I did it after 4 run´s => train a bit

PS: Above was my way, maybe it doesn´t fit your drivingstyle.

1st try, 8sec behind
2nd try, 4 sec behind
3rd try, 1 something behind.

2nd and 3rd the game **** up, and keep driving after finish line, it runs as we speak, 7th lap and going :D This due too wireless connection at the moment??
2nd try, i quit game, and i heard the clicks from menu right that sec. Ayways.. not funny :D
Did AndyT post setup by the way
2.08
2.03.8
2.04.2
2.04.8
2.04.6

Lap 8th now, just cruising at the Audi's ass

Edit: start button works, just pauses though
and Ps button works.

You're doing everything right. There' no way you should be 15 seconds behind. You need to be above 61mph on all but 2 turns which should be right around 50mph. One is the first righthander you mention, and the 2nd is right after the Ss.

Just got within 0.2xx of winning this damn race.

I think this is by far the easiest of the expert races. Won by almost 6 seconds.

The key is smoothness and consistency, and learning the proper lines.

The Suburu is in the New car dealership, it doesn't mention the wheel size.

Perhaps a video will help with lines.

Cheers, already had it but when I clicked garage from the seasonal events menu it didn't display as I'd tuned it past the 394bhp.......

Splendid, I just placed 1st at trial mountain! BUT same s_hit happened to me as in Post #19 above.
No screen pops up after finishing race, it keeps on running. 15:44:000 as we speak.

Anybody know what's causing this?
Third time, if nobody knows. I'll drop seasonals for good. It's not like I need credits or cars. Still fun though, but this is NOT.

Hope somebody can fill me in?
It still runs..... 23 minutes ---->

Edit: 35 minutes and counting......
VIDEO OF MY CASE

Edit again: 40 mins running, Trial mountain lockdown enduranace NOT ftw :D

Quitting it now!

Can't help with that issue, I'm afraid. There are a few folk experiencing the same thing, but I don't know the cause or a fix.

Ok thanks, nice to know I'm not the only one at least :) 👍

daan, what tranny are you using and what setting? I have the fully custom one in and have it set to 106 or 112 top speed, so am seeing different gears around turns than yours. Your speeds and shifting looks to be a bit smoother than mine.
Also, camber settings f/r pls?

Yes, please this ^. Your Fiat is attaining speeds a full gear lower than I can get. I have tried many different combinations of tuning the tranny, but have not had your success. Since last update there are 2 "top speed" indications. One is at top of the tuning screen, the other at bottom. The top one seems controlled by final gear setting, and bottom one controlled by Top Speed setting. They do not always agree with each other. I guess I do not understand how the settings work and in which order to perform them. Any help appreciated.

I really love this race but am getting frustrated.
