Racing in Reverse

Actually i was just wondering if anyone else has raced some of the earlier races(sunday cup) with a car with a long reverse gear(chrysler 300c) and won?

umm, no. because in reverse since it goes to rear wheel steering its a pain in the ass to handle. and just looked ghey

In GT3 whenever I got a big lead over the second place car I would do the last lap of the longer races in reverse. It isn't that hard actually, as long as you're looking toward the back of the car.

The Honda Odyssey goes 98mph or so in reverse, my friend and I raced on the test track in them

Haven't done that, but for fun during one of the beginner races, I got in front of the close pack of cars and slapped the hand brake, got spun around in time to have a good view of the pile up.

And here I was, thinking this was a thread on Reverse tracks ... I don't think I'll try this just yet, don't want to stuff up and spoil my stats - 102 wins from 103 races (got pipped at the post on Swiss Alps Reverse).

Just had a thought...

The Toyota Prius....It has a CVT...So in theory it could go as fast in reverse as forward?

Note: Theory is my theory, and has no scientific meaning at all....

I've crossed the finish line in reverse once because I spun out on the last corner, saw the second place car coming at me, and decided I did not have time to turn around and still win the race so I hit reverse and hoped I didn't hit the finishing post! I think it was at Tsukuba.

Laguna Seca is also fun backwards.

I'm gonna take a guess and say the Toyota Triathalon car. Because it has only 1 gear so i figure reverse may work the same way. Am I close?

Well a Caterham 7 set the world record for speed in reverse, but that was with a special 6 reverse-speed transmission...

Although to be totally fair he was coming right at me and I was in a Bentley Speed 8.

have you ever tried to go on GT3 take the escudo and go to one of the races thats in simulation mode(Test Course) and put the escudo to fly(wheelie) and go backwards on the test course and when you hit one of the cars(AI) on the track they go halfway around the Test Course! its pretty funny

i was playing around with the car, i was first looking at the nike 2022 or whatever it is, and decided to try the triathalon to see how man speed it had, and it was only a 1 speed.
so i also tried to see how fast i could go backwards...
& did about 200mph in reverse down the mulsanne straight in La Sarthe II (long straight away)

Try it, take your fave car and go in reverse, the whole race. Try to win. It's really hard. I was going to post this kind of challenge in the GT3 forums about a year and a half ago, but I decided to not waste my time.

BTW doesn't your racing get a bit boring when you've run out of opponents because all the AI goons have either shot themselves or joined the Foreign Legion after being beaten by a car going backwards?

I think I lost interest before I won any races. Maybe I'll give it a try today...

I leave my b-spec driver overnight racing the N'Ring 24h race and I wake up to find it paused at 2h55m because the select button on my controller is poorly made. Stupid things.
