This is just a quick explanation of the Racing Modification option in GT auto.

The Racing Mod will disable any currently equipped tuning parts, but if you are going to put racing mods on, I would suggest doing it first anyway.

It will change what your car looks like in someway. It will also purchase and install a full adjustable transmission, fully-adj suspension, prevent you from purchasing all of the weight reduction parts(I'm assuming because it equips them.) It also purchases and equips a double-plate clutch and a racing flywheel, as well as equipping the titanium exhaust mod.

It does allow you to adjust downforce front and rear.

You do still have the opportunity after purchasing the racing mod to change wheels, purchase some additional mods (ie: turbo's, computer chip etc).

I was rather impressed with all of this because the 85,000 Racing Mod in Gran Turismo 2 only changed the way the car looked and gave you the ability to adjust downforce.

If you notice that I left anything out please feel free to throw your two-cents at it.

hey, i have a Tuned Civic (premium Car) with Turbo Stage 3, CHip, New Suspension and new exhaust. i think if i buy Race Mod, this all goes desinstalled but you still got that. you just can reinstall them if you want, you dont need to buy again the parts.

Is there a list somewhere with only the cars in with RM next to them, rather a handful to fish them out in the official car list on news page.

From another thread:

Here is a list of the cars that are raced mod.

1. Chevrolet Camaro SS RM '10
2. Chevrolet Corvette Z06 (C6) RM '06
3. Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (C6) RM '09
4. Dodge Challenger R/T RM '70
5. Honda CIVIC TYPE R (EK) RM '97
6. Honda INTEGRA TYPE R (DC5) RM '04
7. Lexus IS F RM '07
8. Lotus Elise 111R RM '04
9. Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IX GSR RM '05
10. Nissan SILVIA spec-R AERO (S15) RM '02
11. Subaru IMPREZA Sedan WRX STI spec C Type RA RM '05
12. Suzuki Cappuccino (EA21R) RM '95
13. TVR Tuscan Speed 6 RM '00
14. Volkswagen Golf IV GTI RM '01
15. Chevrolet Camaro Z28 RM '69

So, apart from the custom paintjob; is there any real reason to install the Racing Modifications seeing as you can install all that stuff yourself anyway?

It basically turns your car into a purpose built race car. It adds adjustable downforce, and IMO just increases the handling substantially. Well and it looks badass.

I currently have two race modded cars.

A Lotus Elise 111R RM 2004 and a Dodge Challenger R/T RM 1970.

The Lotus is Quite literally a dream to drive and has responded favorably to all changes and add-ons I made after the Race Mod purchase.

The Challenger is a totally different story. The car almost refuses to turn and the redline has somehow been lowered! Like from about 5800rpm to about 5200rpm. It does have outstanding torque and accelerates great! I haven't done any additional mods to the car as of yet but will post any successes in the future.

Back to the Lotus - with only some intake and exhaust changes and medium slicks I was able to win a pro Wold championship race at the Cape-Ring - even after I wrecked twice. Absolutely a joy to drive and I think the total investment was about 200,000 credits.

i freaking love RMs i plan on RMing all the cars on the list, and still getting a second of the same car non RMed (as long as i like it)

right now IMO, the best RM car for the buck is gotta be the new camaro. fully tuned and RMed its 700ish HP and dominates EVERYTHING

What does changing the exhaust do?

1. exhaust changing 101 guy... tone/note/sound, peak power/powerband, gets you pulled over

now on to my next question.. can we please get some pics up?? i especially would like to see the CTR, ITR, and IS F displayed ;) i have a ctr that i can prep and take a shot of when i get a chance.

PS can someone please do the math and see if it is a wholesale or sponsorship bargain? or if its just a one stop shopping sort of convenience type of deal.

Did a race mod to my '69 Camaro Z28 last night... AWESOME!!! 👍

I'm confused by the OP's wording.

So, if you do the race mod to your car, when you go back into the tuning shop, can you not just buy whatever parts the race mod didn't buy for you? Let's say the race mod doesn't buy the weight reduction bits, can you not just buy those after the race mod is installed?

My fear of installing everything before the race mod (as I believe the OP is suggesting) is that you would be wasting money if the race mod includes them for you.

Would it not be safer to just buy the race mod first, then go into the tuning shop and buy whatever the race mod itself didn't include (weight reduction, engine upgrades, things like that)?

Hopefully someone can clarify, because at this point, I'm confused!

The OP explained NOT to buy anything before the race mod because it basically buys what is necessary. There are some bits missing like chassis rigidity, stage 3 engine, etc but you buy those AFTER the race mod. This is speaking for a Civic type R. There's no reason to do all lightening mods and then buying race mod because you basically buy the same parts twice for your car.

Yes you can still buy the parts the race mod doesn't already include.

In facts, if u fully upgrade ur camaro and then put the racing mods, all ur upgrades will be deinstall and u just need to reinstall em to gain much power over ur racing version car.
Just did that on my camaro

Is the race-mod cost effective? Is it cheaper to apply the race-mod than it is to buy the parts separately?

Generally speaking it is cost effective as the car will have less weight than possible without RM as well as more downforce; for these alone it is "better".
