Racing Soft Tires: Rendered Useless?

Trying to figure out why there aren't any races that are allowing Racing Soft tires other than the"S" stages. These have always been the best possible tires and rendering them useless is ridiculous. Tire restrictions need to be lifted to allow them in more events.

I for one think the A-spec PP and tire restrictions need to go. Just one more way, along with the tutorial race and mandatory Honda Fit starter car, that they're joining in the hand-holding and restrictions common in games nowadays.

If even with the restrictions, races are not challenging at all, imagine what would be if Racing Softs would be allowed at every race. It would be a joke.

I echo the earlier: I am all for tire, car type, and PP restrictions.

The restrictions in most cases are more of a guideline in my opinion because most of the races can be beat at lower tire and PP requirements. I agree with the hand-holding Honda Fit though.

No tire restrictions and no PP restrictions this is the only way to go in this game. But PD messed up on this game big by putting in the tire and PP restriction is so wrong and of course taking away the fun in this game And that what PD did is to take away the fun. Thanks PD.

Not looking to start trouble, but where in your post do you argue for no restrictions? Everybody has an opinion, and I legitimately want to hear more of yours.

Tire restrictions need to go along with PP.

Well now I'm confused. Because you said here:

Which one do you mean?

Here it says PD messed up with the restrictions.

Personally, I think tires should be a part of PP, but I think that we should have a rating more along the lines of Forza. Everything matters.

I think PD just need to rename current tires to more appropriate ones. racing tires should be renamed to qualifying tires? (I guess)

I don't use RS tires personally for the reasons stated above mostly, but I agree with the OP, there shouldn't be any restrictions on tires or PP in career mode. You should be able to play the game the way you want to play and not be forced down a certain path with artificial restrictions. A recommendation would be good enough for me along the lines of

Expert - 400 PP CS
Experienced - 425 PP SH
Novice - 450 PP SS

Then get out of the way and let the player decide how he wants to run the event. PD's whole idea of telling us how to play the game has led to aids forced on in TT's and similar stupidity.

I guess it's because everyone would use RS then, and wouldn't get to experience much with any other tyre. SH is my preferred tyre, on any car even flat out race cars, SS are good too. These sport tyres actually give a proper driving experience, a sense of speed, acceleration, power and handling. They also don't spin out insanely if you clip the grass by a millimetre.

I'm glad career forces tyre restrictions as it's basically the only time I get to use them, online and it's 99.9% RS unrestricted. A lot of people really seem to under appreciate the driving in the game, RS are good for tearing about but they feel so arcadey, insanely so on 500PP and below.

All true about the experience of Sports and Comfort tires but also irrelevant. Obviously if someone wants that experience they will choose that experience. If RS is available to you or I we won't choose it. But we know from looking at Open Lobbies, most people run with RS tires and don't care about that experience and just want to go fast.

I just think that any part of the core game that has restrictions that aren't necessary by design or function, limits gameplay for those that want no limits. Let people play how they want to play and everyone is happier.

I have no issue running on RS tyres.
It's not as if they make the car infallible and put it on rails.
In amongst a field of base models all on RS is great fun, with many drivers pushing beyond the tyres capabilities.
Unless you are a champion driver, which I'm not, to remain competitive there is little option.

I would think that there are some here calling for no RS tyres, that then proceed to hit the seasonals using SRF.
If that is the case, then calling RS tyres unrealistic would seem a little ironic.

Because they're unrealistic.
That doesn't mean much even if it was true. By that logic just about every car should be banned since they're all going faster than they should be.

Nothing would change except you would have more variety. You can challenge yourself all you want no matter what the restrictions are, whether you want to use GT500 car on CH tires against supercars or a Pickup truck on RS tires against those same cars.

The restrictions should be removed and replaced with suggested limits that can be ignored at will, or better yet make a free mode for racing so people can race in events they have an interest in.

I could choose sport / whatever if there were no limits, but I'd still probably go for RS if they were available just to get a single player race done quicker, I don't get too much pleasure from racing against bots so where the tyre restrictions are forced it's the only way - probably doesn't make much sense lol

I think it also gives the sense of the race being a proper "event" with rules and such.

actually, i sort of agree with the op. If a gamer wishes to use RS, he should be allowed to do so.
To me its sort of like choosing your difficulty level.

Have yet to use RS tyres in GT6. but i know theyll be boring.
