I've always raced GT with the stock Playstation controller.
But in the GT series all up to GT4 I seem to have noticed that we've always been driving under "standard" driving physics engine since I never have traction control issues with FR, MR vehicles. And I always drive Manual, with all assistances OFF, and with non-sports tires when it came to regular, cars.

Now in GT5P with the new "professional" driving physics, I am discovering now that i was in denial when it came oat my skills driving FR and MR vehicles.
"Real Pros" have always told me that high HP FR MR RR vehicles are all about throttle control and sensitive steering inputs.
Even with pressure sensitivity, you can't really accomplish that with the PS3 controller, or any controller what so ever.
I even put what the PROS had told me to the test when I took a 99' Viper out for a test drive on a closed track.

To all the guys with wheel out there and are driving PRO mode, with all assistance off (part from ABS) do you fee a difference from the PS3 stock controller inputs.
Are you able to adjust throttle on high HP FR HR cars, or do you just suffer crazy under steer like me (stock controller user).

Share your experiences.

yes man thers is a huge difference. i find its actually a lil easier to drive with the wheel only because you can actually feel it out instead of the understeer you get from the PS3 controller. Are you driving with pro physics on the controller?? the handling of the car is easier with the wheel only cuz u get a true feel of whats going on in the car and how it reacts to your every slight movement.

the steering wheel is the only way to go when it comes to racing sims.

👍 Exactly, what is point of driving SIM game without a wheel? The people that use a game pad are missing out new experience with the wheel.

And I do not suffer Major under steer or oversteer since I can now apply the car's throttle. So its a good reason you should get the GT wheel, or G25.

I just bought the Logitech G25 a few weeks ago and its a big difference. You have more control over the throttle and it is a lot easier to drive the cars.

yeah thats the one that ii have is the G25. and its definetly worth the money we paid foer it. i bought myself the racing seat as well to complete the ensemble.

I have a G25 but as I dont have much time / space to keep it set up, I normally use a controller and... to be honest... I can sometimes be as quick with a controller. I takes a while to get good with the wheel.

What do you use on the controller? Buttons or Analog Stick?

If you use the analog stick you have much more control. I use this and am able to keep up with most wheel drivers.

i agree with jack,
I takes a while to get good with the wheel
. but once you do get the hang of it, you do drive a ltlle better, lol as long asd thers no punters

Yeah. It will also help you enjoy the game more. With the G25 with the clutch it takes it to another level. Involes you more and you get more out of it.

But you have to have something to fix it onto or a playseat type setup!

I'm interested to hear what peoples' opinions/experiences are regarding the Driving Force GT vs the G25. On PC games I always ran with 300 degrees setup via the driver software for my G25 and DFP, but I have to confess on some track/car combinations like the eiger I find it very very difficult to go from lock to lock at the hairpins and wonder if the DFGT is an advantage in that situation due to having a smaller rotation. Am I right in thinking that in GT5P the G25 runs at a full 900 degrees and the DFGT runs at 300 degrees?

I have a G25 since a week and I must confess it's a big difference.
You just FEEL when your car would oversteer..
you can controll your car much better with a gass pedal than just with your finger on a button or analog stick

DFGT is the new GT5P wheel right?
It runs full 900 degrees. And Motors and feedback is similar and smooth to G25s technology.
DFGT has advantage because the wheel is more comfortable and more buttons on wheel, so everything near finger tips. But DFGT pedals are not as great as G25, no H shifter, and no clutch. And pedals are really important in racing sims. Overall both wheels are great.

By the way. I hear when GT5 Full game comes out, Logitech will sell special G25GT edition wheel. So Maybe wait half a year till we get some news on it. If not Just go with DFGT wheel. It's still awesome.

The peddles suck which I don't like they spend all there time on the wheel & they forget about the peddles lol

They pedels on the G25 are very good. Brake is hard, clutch abit lighter than the brake and throttle is light, so how it is on a real car.

On my oppinion the hardest thing with a controller is to control the throttle delicately. No matter how hard you practise I think you can never be delicate enough with the controller. I have already given up practising and now I mostly use a technique where I just pump the throttle in corners. However with RWD musclecars you still have to try and be delicate, because the way the throttle kicks in those things is a bit different.

Although I don't have a wheel yet (definetely going to get one ASAP), I still drive with pro physics, because it makes the driving a bit more challenging and more fun.

i love using the clutch it makes the game twice as hard... especially wen u misshift

Another question concering those wheels (G25 and DFGT - haven't decided which one to buy yet):

Are they noisy? Last time I tried an FF-wheel (loooooong time ago) it was so noisy that I bought a wheel without FF. Our daughter sleeps in the room next to the livingroom where the PS3 is located so if both are noisy I'll have to stick with the Sixaxis :-(

My DFP is loud for my ears, can´t play at night... not the FF effects but when u play a track like Nordwand and got to turn fast corners...

i heard the g25 und the DFGT are not so loud like the DFP

the g25 is the quietest thing ever honestly you dont hear a thing unless you really crank on the wheel then u hear the motors turning

Bought the Driving Force GT about a month ago. Noticed a big difference right away. It took a weekend of practice to get comfortable with it. Shaved close to 5 sec off my times. I run mainly at night and it doesn't bother anyone. Price was the deciding factor as to what wheel I went with. This one is over $200 cheaper. This is my first wheel and I wish that I didn't wait for so long.:)

Absolutely, once you've tried one its hard to even entertain the idea of using a D-Pad thingywotsit.

Since reverting back to a pad after using a G25, i am losing around three seconds per lap, depending on which drivetrain the car has. With a wheel, you can feel the under/oversteer and correct it more effectively than your able to with a pad.

Driving Force GT is about half as loud as the Driving Force Pro, and the sound pitch is different. My GF sleeps in the next room from where I drive. With the door open the DFP was too loud. She says she barely hears the DFGT.

I highly recommend a wheel for GT5P. Using cockpit mode and a wheel is immersive and realistic in a way that cannot be duplicated with the controller. I'm not afraid to say it makes me giggle sometimes, and forget I'm just sitting in front of my TV.

The wheel is SO much better than the controller! Much more feedback and more more sensitive to throttle inputs, etc.

I used to have a DFP, but got my G25 about a month ago and it been great! MUCH quieter than the DFP and the clutch & H-shifter make GT much more fun to play.

Add an extra sense of realism and makes it more of a challenge.

How is the ease of turning the wheel between the DFP and the G25? I dug out my DFP the other day and my biggest complaint is that if I ever need to counter steer I cant do it fast enough and I end up just letting go and waiting for the car to stop.

I would say its easier to turn the G25 compared to the DFP.

However when the FF kicks in on the G25 its most def stronger than the DFP.

well that answered my question quite well. Think I'm gonna go for the DFGT fro now (have a reputation to keep, and lately, in pro mode, unless I<m driving a FF or a under 400HP 4WD it hasn't been good)

But my ultimate aim is the G25

The driving force GT is just a DFP (driving force pro) with an extra horn and knob for real-time adjustments (but you can do this with any wheel), but you can get a DFP off of Ebay for about 40-60 USD where the driving force GT is 130 USD your paying 70-90 dollars for a horn and knob. :odd: Just my 2 cents.
