So I have a Logitech DFGT but I don't have a place to anchor or set it up when I'm playing from the couch. I'm considering the stand sold by Wheel Stand Pro, but I'm wondering if there are any other good stands that can be recommended? The one thing holding me back on the Wheel Stand Pro is the cost of shipping + any unknown duties for importing into Canada.

I bought a Wheel Stand Pro a few years ago in time for GT5, haven't regretted it since. A great piece of kit if you're just wanting a casual set up. Reasonably priced and quite nicely engineered.

Just bought a stand from wheel stand pro. very well put togethet kit. very sturdy and high quality matetials. cant go wrong with those guys, worth the money.

one thing I would add. It's worth getting the one for a G27, it will fit you DFGT but if you ever upgrade (like I did) it will be compatible. I found out this the hard way, £30 for a new top plate and shifter plate and it no longer folds down properly. still an sturdy bit of kit though

Racing cockpit right there....lol

That chair + $30 wal mart laptop stand. Cost effective....

Not very stable in standard laptop mode but with some modifications it can be made to be rather solid.

I don't know how you all stand that pole between your legs (no jokes). I drive with 2 feet and I don't think I could use the wheel stand pro. I also would tear my leg to pieces with the metal height adjuster hanging out to the right like that. It also costs a bit more than my G27 which I bought for $150 with a coupon. I don't know why these wheel stands cost so much :(.

I use the Poang chair and a saw horse from Homedepot with a 2x4 inside to clamp too. Saw the idea in the GT5 forums a few years ago I think.

You really should ask the admins to move this to the hardware forum.
There are multiple threads there regarding wheel stands.
You can probably find very useful information there.

You should check out http://granstand.com/. The owner supports the SNAIL Racing series here on GTP and is a good guy. One nice thing about his stand is it doesn't have a pole between your legs like the wheel stand pro.

I just built my own similar to inside sim racings DIY stand. Only spent about $30 total because I already had most of the stuff to build it.

I'd recommend building your own. My set up cost me about $150 total. A leather seat from a Saab 93, along with some metal and paint from Lowes. Of course, if you don't have access to a welder then it might be worth buying some manufactured set up. Building your own allows you to build it tailored to your liking or can be built with the purpose of being disassembled when not being used.

And nothing makes you feel more alpha male than building something from metal.

Build a reasonably priced one out of wood and or ABS pipe, take the savings and invest in a better wheel. You'll have a much better experience IMO

If you don't have the skill or experience to work with metal you can make a setup just like this with wood and it'll be just as strong and cheap. Screws and woodglue provide stronger joints than the actual strength of the wood. Finger joint pine is cheap and very stable for warping and twisting, especially when sealed. Get a can of spray paint/primer and paint it up and it'll be just fine. My setup is along these lines but with wood and a minivan captains chair and I can sit for hours and never get tired. Comes with armrests too!!

I made my own custom rig out of good quality timber and using a brand new racing seat from one of my local automotive parts shop. The seat was cheap because they had a set of driver's and passanger's seats but someone bought just the driver's seat, so they were selling the passenger one quite cheap! I used to own a 1992 Mazda RX7 Turbo (FC) tunned by RE Amemiya and I quite liked the seating position, so I looked up the measurements and replicated it with my wood frame which I made by myself using some basic wood electric tools (saw, etc). Looks a bit rough but was soooooo cheap compared to a rig you can buy ready. My Fanatec GT3 RS V2 and Clubsport pedals work perfectly with it!

I have the Fanatec Rennsport wheel stand and very happy with it for a casual setup. Very similar to the wheel stand pro.
