Racism in certain lobbies

Certain lobbies I have joined have kicked me out just because of where I reside. I was once kicked out of a Japanese lobby BECAUSE I LIVE IN THE USA!!! I am actually Japanese. Another time I was kicked from a European lobby. He even said "Bye, Murican.". Racism should be punishable. Post your thoughts about it or any experiences you had with racism.

I was rockin' it in a drift lobby in my 8-6, then some dude just said, "wait, an American who drifts?" I just laughed it off, but then the guy kept tailgating me watching me. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty terrible at drifting, I can barely get bronzes in online events, so I'm just reading this guy spout nasty comment after another on how bad I am. I eventually just said "screw you" and left. He then sent a message saying I need to learn how to do more than quarter miles before I go online again.

People who spout that garbage really should be taught that whatever they say is equally nasty and hurtful, even if they aren't saying it to the guy's face.

I once entered a room full of people from different countries. While waiting for the race to start, the French host decided to get racist to a UK player for no reason at all. The UK guy didn't even fought back and just left. Disgusted with what happened we also left the lobby.

Edit:

Oh I remember now, the French host said "no English please". We thought "no speaking in English" in lobby because the other players are conversing/typing in English. But he really means no UK players as he said to the British guy because he doesn't like them.

Frenches on GT6 are maybe the most racists guys I know, honestly. That's disgusting. I've been kicked out multiple times from their rooms for no reason, maybe just because I have an US account so my flag on GT is USA. That sucks, really :(

I was in a German room (I'm from the UK) and there was another fellow Brit in, the Germans were just hurling abuse at him, with terrible grammar, saying they hate his kind and how the UK are bad at everything. He didn't do anything, he just seemed to take it, he still participated in the races. A couple of them were trying to bash him off but he avoided them. He ended up beating them and he got kicked.

One of the funniest things i've ever witnessed, i laughed at the bunch of Germans, typing "hahahahaha he beat you!" in chat and i got kicked.

I couldn't stop laughing!

I gotta disagree there, the majority of Australians are probably the most racist people, I mean just look at some of the room comments; "Aussies Only, 🤬 off Foriegners!". It's disgusting! I was asked by a fellow Aussie to kick an english-speaking french person out because, and I quote, "kick the frenchy, he don't speak good english and are a bad driver!". Firstly the french person (won't say his name) was a terrific driver, a whole 5 seconds quicker than the racist, and secondly, his grammar and punctuation was absolutely appaling! I mean, seriously, a double negative and 'are' should be 'is'. I have been asked that too many times to count by a fellow Australian.

No, Litchi is right, but this is the cause of French racists ;)

Yeah I can see how that can happen but Australians have to be in the top 5 though, it is really saddening that they are that far up. But on a complete opposite note, Japanese people have to be the best nationality in GT6. Friendly, agreeing, reasonable and fast! Back on topic, I haven't come across too many French racists just mainly dirty driving French.

I make you right, you should listen to the French fella's during Fifa clubs wow:ill::eek:

Yeah, I have to admit on GT it is quite bad, and unfortunately what I read is right, the French people are the worse, closely followed by the Spanish.

Funniest moment for me was this time I was in a room with friends and these german guys were in their. Well they were the only germans and kept speaking to each other. I can't speak german but my dad is fluent, due to our german ancestry. Well these german guys were telling each other (in german) how stupid and what ***** the british were, laughing because we couldn't understand them. So my dad took my controller and started typing (in german obviously) 'yes I agree with you, but in case you are wondering, your not the only ones that can speak german, hahahaha' they immediately shut up and after the next race left the room.

It's sad really. Motorsport in the real world brings everyone together, and there's a lot of respect, but it doesn't seem to be the case in fantasy racing. :(

Do you have any idea what the latency is across the Pacific Ocean? You were probably ruining their lobby.

Go to Pingtest.net and ping Seoul (there's no Japanese servers to ping on Pingtest, so Seoul will have to do). Then read the last three paragraphs below.
I mean just look at some of the room comments; "Aussies Only, 🤬 off Foriegners!".
Apart from New Zealand, the latency for a signal from Australia to anywhere and back again is ridiculous. Sure, they could be less blunt about it but "Aussies Only, Sorry But Due To The Physical Limitations Of Our Universe And The Nature Of P2P Networking Systems We Can't Accept Foreign Drivers As It Makes Races Unplayable" doesn't really fit lobby titles. If you're not living in Australia, go to Pingtest.net and ping an Australian server - if you are, ping a European server.

Note that a ~50ms ping is the minimum you want to be at for a non-laggy race. The more players there are, particularly if the majority are clustered in one spot and the minority are in different territories, the worse a slow ping will be as your machine has to communicate with each and every one of the others. I'm just guessing, but I think the US-Japan ping will be ~150ms and the Australia-Europe ping will be ~250ms. Now imagine they're all playing in their 'local' lobby with 25-30ms pings and you show up with 150ms...

While I'm sure there's racists online and more than a few people don't want people who can't speak their language jabbering away in a foreign tongue (which is understandable, if not very friendly), the fact is that trying to connect to a lobby that is hosted very, very far away harms the experience of everyone in that lobby.

Unless the game moves to dedicated servers (which is an incredibly expensive way to do it, particularly on a multi-million selling console game) or the universe stops being so mean with its upper speed limits (which isn't likely), that's how it's going to have to be.

I have to agree that the Australians are pretty bad. Most seem to be the stereotypical racist bogan that will only race commodores at Bathurst. I race with Europeans and Americans mostly but my Aussie internet is so bad that I lag and get kicked.

I understand 100% why they probably don't want overseas players in their lobby but what I was trying to get at was there is better ways to express that need. Like just saying "Aussies Only, Please" or "Aussies Only" would suffice just as well. Don't get me wrong, there are alot of Aussies who run brilliant lobbies and there are even lobbies where the host will politely ask the overseas person to leave the room due to the lag. As I said, I understand 100% why they don't want the overseas person in the lobby but it instead of abusing them racially you can just ask them to leave politely.

See, the thing that endears Australians to the rest of the world is that, as a culture, they rarely say something in a fashion other than the absolute bottom line of what they're thinking.

That said, I'm also aware that there is an interesting attitude towards racism and what constitutes racism in Australia. But hey, at least they're honest about it.

In this instance it's more xenophobic, but for entirely valid physical reasons. I'd be concerned about racism if they were kicking out Viet-origin Australians or Aborigines, but hearing someone talk French (or with a French accent) and booting them on the basis they probably have a fake Australian account (I've got US, Hong Kong and Japanese PSN accounts) - even if expressed as mild racism - is on the valid side.

I never faced racism in GT6's online mode so maybe I was just lucky.

One thing that bothers me is when I'm in a lobby where most of the players are Spaniards, someone from another country joins the lobby and the Spaniards keep typing in Spanish. This also happened to me in some French or German lobbies. I think that we must assume that the global language is English and as a matter of respect we must speak/type it when a foreigner is in.

I know that not everybody have a fluent English, but a minimum should be required for online mode. At least, a few words related to racing online. I think that this could be one step to end the racism as we step over the language barrier.

If you are Japanese, just type Japanese and let them know you are Japanese. Just like this 「アメリカフラッグですけど日本人です。」 Done and done. Yes you can type Japanese with an American PS3.

I have an American account with the Star Spangled Banner, but I live in Japan with a Japanese GT6. I join Japanese rooms mostly because of latency, and when I join, I let them know I understand Japanese and I live in Japan. And if I'm lagging, I let them know to feel free and kick me. Once I started doing this, I never got kicked for racial/ethnic reasons.

I need to do all this, because they assume that foreign drivers will lag or drive dirty. The level of clean racing in Japanese rooms are astounding. Super high standards.

That doesn't mean the Japanese doesn't do dirty racing.
Dirty racing rooms are easy to spot. It'll say "Death race" (デスレース).

Just, introduce yourself in Japanese, be polite. Some even understand what "afk", "thx" and "gr" is.
(No intention to break AUP)

There are two completely different attitudes to racism here in Australia, since this was labelled as 'Terra Nullius' by the British even though there was the Aboriginal population which was not recognized as 'humans' until the 80' or 90's as they were under the 'Flora and Fauna Act'. There is a slight acceptance in racism in the older population of Australia since they grew up with the belief that the two races are not equal, however as that population fades out, sadly, that attitude is slowly fading away. Then there is the Outback vs City divide. Racism is heavily cracked down on in the city but in the Outback, it is slightly less cracked down on. I think it has to do with the larger population of the Indigenous race as you go inland and that people, such as myself, who have incredibly strong British links, can be geniune best friends with a full-blooded Aboriginal.

In Australia there will always be that divide though, which is disapointing as Australia will be known as 'that' country which was pretty much founded with the common belief that a Indigenous people were not 'humans'. This is incredibly sad but, somewhat true..

Yeah, its eye opening how much hatred against the US you can find on euro servers. Most people who get kicked or harassed aren't even from the US, they are just europeans using US accounts :(

I don't know how many of you know this game, but I sometimes play "North&South" on PC, its a american civil war mod for Mount and Blade. i usually play on Union side and choose the stars and stripes as my flag, but for some reason -even though its a game based on the civil war- this seems to offend certain players :S (funny, considering how the majority uses the CSA flag)

I got offended many times as german in GT6. The usual boring Nazi stuff...
Last time a guy from denmark wrote me some extremely disguting racist stuff after crashing into him in a drift lobby. I don't even want to write it out fully. But it were things like "Go suck Hitlers **** you dirty Nazi ****.... "

Sad but reality...

I'm tired of those Nazi offendings, it's so many years ago not even my grandparents were involved...

I think GT is ok, I was just kicked two or three times by groups of french and german players. I get it, maybe the hate post world cup 2006.
No offensive words. Ever.

No, the real den of racism is Forza. I get so much love from american people. Far behind follows british and french.
All pretty good at offending with heavy words.

I once entered in a lobby full of British people and US people, and after 15 mins of race, they found out that i'm a Filipino and they kicked me out because one user said "We don't like jeepney drivers." so they kicked me out.

About the "We don't like jeepney drivers" thing, well we Filipinos use old jeepneys as a mode of transport and it has been mocked ever since. So it does show disrespect on our transportation.

When someone wins a race, even when its a fluke (rammed into first or anything, in a dirty race) he gets "gw", which means 'good win'. When I lead the entire race and win I get ".....", nothing. You guy's think that's annoying ? Poor you. Most of these people I'm talking about are on my "friends" list lmao I know. Plus they usually add me. I don't like to add people, I don't want to get turned down because of my race. oh well.

On the flip side of that coin, I've been in rooms where it seems like there is somebody from every corner of the globe, people were friendly and great racers, it renewed my confidence that people can be decent. I enjoyed that afternoon quite a bit. I've also seen the butt heads talk smack for no reason, I felt sorry for them.

The Indigenous founded Australia. Hunter gatherers, they were very peaceful people. The Dutch came next, ate some oysters and left in peace. Then the English invaded, slaughtered the Indigenous. There is still no treaty.

What you said is the rewritten version that they teach kids in primary school.

I was trying not to show bias and be racist all in one. It's a very touchy subject among people of a British decent living in heavily populated Indigenous communities.

I'm glad that Portuguese lobbies don't do that: I'm portuguese and I live in Portugal. My PS3 was purchased in Portugal and I never got kicked out from an portuguese lobby. But for other side: Racism is bad and cruel. An japanese host cannot kick out an american just because he's japanese and he lives in America :/ I'm not racist and I do not support racism. This racism must end: There may be differences between colors but all persons should have the same rights like we do.
