Rain Tyre Difference?

I grind Dream Car Championship allot with Bob. I noticed today for the first time that during the Monza race, Bob pitted three times for different tyres during the rain. Before the patch, if it was hinting at rain, Bob would leave the rain tyres on, period. Now, he switched them out for intermediate, then racing hard. Even with a visible, albeit not hard, rain. Is this new, or just me? I did a search before asking, but couldn't find the answer.

Drove dream car last night in a spec, I think they have changed the performance of all tires yet again.
