Real Circuits in GT5?

Part of the reason why Monaco had a barrier at St. Devote and more barriers at the Piscine in GT3 could have been influenced by the Formula 1 cars being included in the game (these cars could be the single reason this track is in the game actually). Back in the era of those cars (1986-1995) those barriers were actually there. It wasn't until the late 90s that they were removed (the pit exit was also at the same spot back then). Then again, having those barriers there eliminates the possibility of cheating and cutting those corners, as well as the Nouvelle Chicane. Given that they had no penalty or disallowed lap system back then (like they do in GT5P), it was easier for them to just have those barriers there. It's the same thing in GT4 and the track is clearly a port from GT3 with some minor updates like darker asphalt to imitate the fact that it had been repaved in real life around then.

There's also the fact that, as several people have mentioned, Cote D'Azur isn't a licensed circuit that's a copy of Monaco. "Cote D'Azur" is as much a real racing circuit that Rome is in GT3. It's just a track based on real streets so I wouldn't imagine a license would be required to feature those streets in a game. However, to call it Monaco and have it identical to the actual set up street circuit for the Monaco Grand Prix would require a license. It seems Polyphony have gone for the former, however given that we have more F1 tracks now (and real F1 cars or at least one), they may decide to make it like the real thing, which would be great news.

PD didn't put in the extra barriers where they don't exist, they put them in the swimming pool section just like they used to be. There aren't any walls there on the second chicane of that section but there did used to be. I'm not sure about the tight chicane coming out of the tunnel though, I don't remember there ever being any walls in that part, just some huge curbs.

EDIT: sorry I didn't read the last post, that full shows what I was trying to say.

You might like the idea of having a super-realistic circuit where it is almost too narrow to pass, but I very much imagine that the average gamer would just find it frustrating.

I agree. Only hardcore sim racers would want that.

I want loads of real tracks in GT5, like Mosport, Cancun, Kyalami, Zandvoort, Rouen, Spa, Castle Coombe, Le Mans Bugatti, 60's Fuji, 60's Silverstone, Donnington Park, Assen, Velencia, Le Sarthe without chicane & with etc.

I do hope they get Silverstone in, and Castle Coombe would be nice (I've watch some races there myself!) even though it's quite obscure (although they've done the Top Gear Test Track.)

Don't forget Brands Hatch and Zolder.

I think you will have to wait until GT6 to get all that, I'd say around 2020 maybe:)
I see you're an optimist. :p

That sounds like Forza Motorsports fans justifying their widened and stretched Nurburgring - No, sorry, personally I want real life tracks to be accurate, or else it's probably better not to include them and design some better fantasy tracks instead.

Its only too narrow to pass in F1, although...in games its a little different. If you ever played F1:CE, you would know that you can most certainly pass at Monaco! Though admittedly, you have to be pretty aggressive and aware. Its almost always a dive down the inside.
I love Monaco even though its hard to pass, I like the challenge of avoiding crashing, trying to make time in each sector and trying to find that slim chance to overtake. The sequences of corners are one of the "perfect" tracks for me.

I imagine with the lower PP races, Monaco would be quite entertaining and action-packed!

Of course, demolition derbies always are!

From the looks of how desperate every body is, it gives me the idea; "We shaw beg to the mighty Kaz, nobody has ever seen him but only rumours spread he exists", lmao..

Yeah, I was wondering about that too. It's hard to tell cause it's all blurry but it looks like it could be Tsukuba. Also had me thinking maybe the Motegi Superspeedway based on how the road and advertising curves at one side (but Tsukuba does the same).

Nah too small to be Motegi SS.The distance across the width is too small.

If we get a track editor, which is looking likely, you can maybe all create your own "perfect" tracks, no?
