Swung by sporting goods store on the way home....... Looked for .22LR, no-go, of course. I couldn't get snapcaps for my new gun either. They had every caliber except .45ACP. My god, I can't even buy something that's shaped like an ammo.
Super jealous, @a6m5, I've wanted one of those for a long time, though in 9mm format.
It's much bigger than I imagined. Nice gun though, so glad I was able to get my hands on it in my price range. 👍
The lighting in my room is just awful for taking a decent picture with my phone. The phone does pretty well outdoors where there is plenty of available light. I will try and figure something out to get some better ones.
It's the contrast on the black surface I find tricky. God, I hate fighting the lighting trying to take pictures.

Those HK USP .45 are HUGE! Surprised you bought one. Too big for me to be comfortable with them! I learned that when I owned a Desert Eagle .44 mag! Huge gun, too!

Desert Eagle is exactly what I thought of when I first got it. My other .45 is a single stack 1911, and while I do love its narrow grip, surprisingly, the size of the USP hasn't bothered me yet......... I haven't shot it yet either though. :P

I hope to hit the range on Saturday!

Recoil is fierce! Because, the pistol sits so high in the hand. That, along with it's size, is why I never liked it. Though, it is a collectors item. So, if it is not what you like, keep it if you can. I wish I bought one and kept it for collection purposes. But, I own so many guns, I never 'pulled the trigger' on it. Yes, pun intended. :P

I saw this gun last night in a online ad....... I had it in my possession little after 9am this morning(He happened to be driving right past my work):

I've been looking around, but I never see a 'compact' I like & I can get a great deal on. I saw this clean used USP for $750, we settled for $675 + two bricks of .22LR. It's another full-size handgun, but oh well. :D
I hear you're Solid Snake :sly:

...smh you disappoint me using an inferior game choice. Good thing you have cool guns and are a cool guy, all can be forgiven
Right back at you buddy!

I know Brett got my back on the game choice. Maybe he could also tell me how many paper targets I need to kill to get my silencer attachment. :P

 MGS you just got to go find it so ha! But seriously are you going to get anything done to it?

Nah. I am looking into a picatinny adapter for the rail, also plan on buying 12 round mags, as this gun came with the communist 10 round mags, but that's about it.

At least you didn't buy the full size USP, that one is even longer...

Though this shouldn't really be bigger than comparable full size/compacts (Glock 17/19, M&P/M&PC, etc.)?

Edit: 10 round only? Go for the 15 round magazine.

I'd do they same thing I never was a fan of the ten round mags that H&K only seems to have with .45 acp

They actually offer a 15 round? I still want an mark 23 from them

I looked again, and it seems that 12-round is their "hi-cap" magazine. I did find an aftermarket(I know, I know) 20-round mag, which I may consider down the line. Cheapest I found on the stock 12-round was just over $50. Maybe I'll get lucky like Brett, who was able to find the aftermarket for his Walther PPQ, but this aftermarket company was the vendor for Walther. Same thing, cheaper.

Hooray! New Walther single stack. http://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/2014/03/11/walther-ccp-pistol-introduced-iwa/

... too bad it's as wide as a glock 19. What the heck is the point of a single stack then?

Noooooo, don't say that! I'll find out soon enough I guess. :nervous: I'm testing out my electronic muffs for the first time as well. I can not wait!
Sorry to spoil your fun, but I cannot say nothing. I know what I know. It's an AWESOME pistol, so I'm sure you'll love it. Just prepare your self for the recoil! :)

In some countries.

I know, I appreciate the heads up! 👍

I've personally never had the opportunity to fire a USP of any caliber but isn't one of their big selling points the "recoil reduction system?" I thought they were supposed to feel pretty nice compared to similar guns.
I've heard it, too. I also went into the deal with the impression that it was supposed to be pretty sweet shooting gun. This'll be interesting. :D

I fired a couple of magazines through a full size .40 USP alongside with a Glock 35, the USP was really snappy and had lots of muzzle raise, the G35 was much easier to handle.
Take it with a grain of salt though, I'm not an experienced handgun shooter (I can hit stuff with them if I have to), I only own and shoot rifles. Maybe its my grip that sucks.

Maybe this weekend I will try and grab some more pictures. Until then, I am looking into slings, weapon lights, magazines, and some kind of optic. My poor, poor wallet . . .

EDIT: Also need to look into some kind of rifle case to put the Tavor in.

I know Brett got my back on the game choice. Maybe he could also tell me how many paper targets I need to kill to get my silencer attachment. :P

I would go with CoD4 also and you probably need to kill at least 30 paper targets for that attachment. Might have to fill out some paperwork too.

Right now, the CCP is a meh to me, much like the PPX was until I actually looked at and held one. For the money, the PPX is probably a pretty good gun, at least from the small amount of trigger time I have had behind one and some reviews online. Until I get to look and hold a CCP, it is a meh.

They say that about the .40 in general, though I've never shot one.....

Nope, they don't. My brain farted and I made a mistake. My apologies.

Pfft... Mk23 SOCOM or Bust.

Makes a full size USP look like lovely carry piece.

Lol, I didn't want to bring up the Mk23 since they are so uncommon and expensive and large and specialized, but yes, those are huge.

Yeah, it is. They are pretty sweet. In my experience, the recoil reduction helps a little bit. It's noticeable, but not much.

I really wanted to shoot the USP first before I bought magazines, but since Botach Tactical(always awesome prices & free ship) emails me TODAY with the one day 10% off coupon, I did order just one 12-round mag. I saved $5. After checking out, I saw the Glock mag for $25. I already knew that, but thanks for the reminder, Botach.

Agreed.

What kind of mags does it take? AR mags would be cheap.....
EDIT: Also need to look into some kind of rifle case to put the Tavor in.
Considering the shape of the rifle, maybe crossbow cases?

I don't know how it would work for your rifle, but for my AR, I was considering Condor 42" case.

On the recoil of a USP:

Bore axis is, in my opinion, an oversimplication of the issue. There are dozens of components that have big effects on the way recoil is delivered to the shooter. I would argue that all things considered, bore axis is fairly minor. Look at the 1911, it is a staple of 3-Gun due to the way recoil can be made extremely manageable even though it has a higher bore axis than most pistols.

The USP Compact .45 that I put probably 100 rounds through had a more deadened recoil than I was expecting. This is probably due to HK's ability to tune slide velocity. The "snappiness" that many guns exhibit is due to the slide hitting the end of the rails with high velocity. This is wasted energy since it is absorbed into the frame rather than used to cycle the weapon. The Germans probably spent lots of time finding the right springs for that gun.

In the end, grip and shooter experience will beat bore-axis and recoil-reducers in terms of shot-to-shot time.

Personally I thought the USP that I shot was fantastic. I would like to try holding a HK45, same gun, different ergonomics that I think would better fit my hand.

On the Mk.23

10 inch long handgun. That is all.

Also, nice gun @Brett!

Interesting take on the snappy recoil. That does make sense. 👍

I told my coworker today that my gun(USP 45) was lot bigger than his(Glock 21). He disagreed. I go look online, lo & behold, they are almost identical in size. P.S. This guy bought the used Glock 21 couple years back, he still have not shot it, or the 870 he bought from the same guy(another coworker), same time.

Here I am itching to shoot the one I picked up couple of days ago.

Imagine bottoming out a car's suspension. It's like that.

In both cases, the spring is usually the compliance, when you run out of compliance the next weakest component starts taking the force. This is usually the shooter's wrist. The rest of the arm is generally held more taught.
