Rutgers university engineering students ran a kart that they built at an august nnjr autocross event. It was pretty quick.

And to answer a question from earlier, yes we race in the meadowlands parking lot right outside metlife stadium

I forgot to mention, iv been "recruited" for the Missouri University of S&T formula SAE team. :D

1807lbs, 205hp.............. :)

And a Cortina no less......I bow to you even before you tell me the specs :D

That said, I can easily get my CRX down to around 1700lbs but it's primarily a GT car, not a race car so it still has all the interior, carpets, stereo, door panels, sunroof etc. I have a friend with a CRX race car down around 1300lbs and over 200hp with a 1.3L, but that's an SCCA national championship winning GT Lite car.

At any rate......NICE CORTINA!!

Thats awesome right threw the swamp.

I had the opportunity to get into some real racing this year. I've had about 6 hours total on track at this point, racing in the ChumpCar World Series. The concept is similar to Lemons, but there are some differences between the series. Notably, we ran a race at Laguna Seca about 2 weeks ago and have another one coming up 2 weeks from tomorrow.

I've made a thread here, that was mainly to update the OLR community on my real world racing escapades.

Racing in an '86 MR2 that's down to about 1800 lbs. and has a 16 valve "smallport" out of a Corolla GT-S that puts out around 130 HP.

Very Cool! I think I remember reading about your car in Grassroots Motorsports magazine.

TheCracker - I must say that that 30mpg was highway, not on track!

After my wife and I buy a house, I'm picking up another. It was a blast, even though I was terrible at it.

That's the best part. If you are racing with a good group of guys, everyone helps each other. I would encourage everyone on here to at least try some form of organized racing, especially if they love this game.

Just please don't race on the street like an idiot...

That is bloody awesome! :D

How can he afford that stuffs?
Seemes pretty unrealistic in Denmark as all cars costs 3 times more than they do in Germany... gay goverment....

But that is seriously cool... every mans dream...

But do any of you know how he affords that? Is he a proffesional racer?

Probably doesn't cost him anything. He's a professional, either gets paid to do it or has a sponsor/benefactor who pays for the drive.

This link if not recognized by my phone. What could I search to find it or could someone post another link? It's driving me CRAZY that I can't watch this.

Blech... AutoX. 8 hours of a day with 5 mins of driving. It may be dick-ish of me... but I don't consider AutoX Racing. /Flame Suit On! Toes may be stepped on... feathers might get ruffled... but I'd rather be on a road course than AutoX or Drag.

While I agree with you about being on a road course, the amount of seat time you get in an auto-x depends on your location. At my local events in my home town, we would get 10-15 runs during the day because there were only 20 cars or so at each event.

And I'm a firm believer that the car control techniques you learn while participating in auto-x events will help you significantly when it comes to daily driving and/or hitting the road course. If you plan on doing road course events, it's probably best to start small (auto-x) and work your way up.

Nice man... every mans dream...

Is he still playing GT? ;)

I do, infact i was running tons of laps on Nurburgring type V in GT5 to practice the nurburgring nordschleife which i was racing on this season.

For next year im already working on new sponsor deals and contracts and hopefully i can report back soon that i secured a new ride for 2012 :D

Merry Xmas all :D

I agree. Plus I have to start this small because I'm broke. Owning and insuring two cars is hard enough. At my NNJR events we get around 50-60 cars average (depends on the weather) so we get around 6-7 runs per session. 3 heats total and you get one run heat, one work heat, one rest heat.

So how does GT5 compare to your real life racing?

No Amateur Karting leagues in Pittsburgh... that I know of :( I want to race so bad.
