Was this done on a motorbike? great footage though... anyone else notice the gtr @ 36 seconds?

I've done it on my bicycle a couple of times. Pretty neat but the lights and traffic system when you get to the Shuto Expressway is a pain.

Old or not, I have never seen it. I think that is pretty cool. After seeing that, I realize how easy they can make city courses. They should have a few more in the series.

Easy, yes. Easy to make good ones, no.

Pretty cool IRL and the game. The route passes my old subway stop that when I lived in Tokyo I used every day on my way on way to work a couple blocks away. Lots of good memories about that neighborhood.

Makes you wonder about the rest of the city tracks in the whole GT Series...

Route 11
Route 5
Route 7
Ect.

Awesome. I saw a guy actually get pulled over in Akasaka back in August, right after the big curve at the end. The J-cop was on a bike too...

The Rome track is also realistic (I went there during Christmas this year and made a point out of checking it), except for the lefthander before the straight behind the Colosseum: in the game it's one big lefthand corner, IRL it's a combination of two smaller corners. And the little sign saying there's an automated speed control system was left out for GT5.

Even the weird appartment building made to look like a miniature Colosseum is present in GT5 (on your left, in the right hand corner after the chicane at the end of the straight next to the Circus Maximus). Awesome detail! :sly:

Wow, you lived in Tokyo. How come you lived there? For work?
I always wanted to make vacation in Japan but did not happen yet.
I came from Germany 8 years ago to work here in the US, cause I speak english, not japanese (unfortunately). :)

A couple of years ago I visited Japan for the first time and was based in Akasaka for a week. GT was a long way from my mind then, but as soon as I drove at R246 in GT5 it brought back some great memories.

I had to walk from the subway (at the right hander onto the S/F straight) and up the hill to the Sony building (a glass building on the left at the traffic lights with a big Sony logo on the windows) and then turn left. I remember on the right was the Royal Park where I think the Crown Prince lived (sorry if I have that wrong). Even the coffee shop that I used is in GT5 as well. Nice detail.

I enjoyed Akasaka and spent my second week in Japan as a tourist. I really hope I get the opportunity to visit Tokyo again.

I hadn't seen this before. Thanks for bringing this up!

I actually think that this shows how much more difficult it is to make a "real" fake city course, since they use real streets, they scan the the real buildings, etc. Much more work intensive than making imaginary city courses in other arcade games. Great job PD.

Great video, thanks for posting that! I was always wondering what the bridge section would be like in real life.
