the Suzuki GSX-R/4 is the perfect car for this my friend, it's an absolute flier

it can only be tuned up to 283 from its stock 172bhp, yet it weighs just 572kg when fully lightened - believe me, it flies! handles so well too, and acceleration is awesome thanks to the low weight

it can even do 180-190mph with such little power, due to its weight! damn

beats 500-600bhp supercars/GT cars no problem

The Honda S2000 LM Race Car is a nice car that might be what you're looking for. 👍

Huh? What? Is that car in the game? I love it so much. I had a tied race (0:00.000) in GT4 against a friend back in the day that must be burried somewhere in youtube. Man it was awesome.

Quirky? A low power Formula car? I guess I don't get the point of this? How it sounds?

In the 300-400hp catagory, I've built and tested several cars for an upcoming racing league I'm hosting. Our restriction is 355hp- no restrictions for tires or weight. The RX-7 Spirit R is a winner. I also like the Z4 M Coupe and the 370z. I have a TTS built to spec, but I'm not as impressed with it as I thought I would be. I need to build up a '91 NSX, I've heard great things.

Integra dc5 rm and fully tuned with stage 2 turbo. You will destroy the world dude, lol or just rm a lotus.

Yea dude i have two of them if you want one ill trade you for something

I'd suggest the Elise 111R or its RM counterpart.

I've seen posts above mentioning the RX 7 Spirit R - though for some reason I don't really find them competitive against an Elise in any online races, but that's probably because they weren't driven by competent drivers.

Ditto and Ditto.
I can't get enough of the Caterham. That car is so light - remember, it is a motorcycle in a race car costume. So cool, and fun to drive. I love taking it on the TGTT. Quirky is an understatement. It comes up fairly often in the UCD. I bought mine when i really couldn't afford it very early on, just because it is so nice to look at. I know of three times since then that it has come up... i even considered buying a second or third one, but logically, i couldn't do it.

This is the car you seek.

The Caterham can be earned by completing the FGT Championship, if I remember correctly.

If you want to be different, try the ZZ-S or Garaiya. They don't rev very high, but their peculiar looks, coupled with sharp handling, make them quirky enough.

If you want to elevate your heart-rate and wrestle with a monster, try the Fireblade.

If you want a solid all-around car, try the Spoon S2000 (street or race cars), or their Civic EK.

If you like low, fat cars with more headlights than should be required for any car ever, try the S2000 LM.

If you like tofu and swirling cups of water, try the S.S.Version Trueno.

If you want to crush your enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentation of their women, try the GSX-R/4.

I'd recommend one of the premium GT300 race cars; the Asparadring RE Amemiya RX7, the Wedsport Lexus IS350, Cuscu Dunlop Subaru Impreza.
The Subaru is probably the nicest of the bunch... At stock power (plus oil change) it somewhere around the 330HP region and it's still fairly easy to get it around the 'Ring at sub 7:20 lap times - on sport softs, that is. Keep the racing hards and it should be capable of breaking into the 7:0X lap times. Awesome machine.

I'd also have to +1 the Silvia S15 RM. Great car. Mine is sitting at 283HP right now, sport soft tyres, no further upgrades after race modding it and I'm currently working on pushing it into the 7:29.xxx range at the 'Ring (and I'm fairly confident that it's got even more left in it). For a car with that little power, that's quite something, I think. Plus, it looks awesome in Midnight Pearl with the white TE37s.

And, while not a race car, a fully lightened and aero'd NSX Type R '02 with all the other upgrades is fast. Like, scaringly fast.

For the low 300s, the Lotus Elise RM kills everything with it's awesome handling and cornering.

For 350-400, try an Acura NSX RM, it handles really smooth for its weight. And can get up to 300km/h.

has anyone mentioned the wedsport celica? for a gt300, it dominated the gt500 races for me. unmodified. race hards. beautifully handling car. from the OP, i think this is exactly what you're looking for. cheers!!

my favorite race cars in that hp range are:

Altezza Touring car
Autobacs MR-S
WedsSport Celica
Cusco Impreza

can't go wrong with any of them, I've clocked 7:10ish times on Nurburgring with all of those :) incredibly fun to drive.

Just bought the wedsport celica last night, definitely a lot of fun. I like it a lot more than the MR-S JGTC car. The GT300 RX-7 is also great.

The other suggestions of the caterham, lotus and gsx-r are great of course.

Something new to consider is a Stratos. The rally car has closeish to 300hp stock and is much more stable than the road car. The road car I believe has 200hp stock and is certifiably crazy. It takes a few laps to get the hang of them but nothing else in the game can rotate so perfectly around a hairpin.
