The X1 is to GT5 as the Stone of Jordan was to Diablo II. In almost every comparable way. While it's not as big a deal in GT5 that two thirds of the transactions on the marketplace forum are for X1s, the OP is right, it trivializes the value of the car.

Most of the the people trading for these things are just tryhard achievement whores who just want the best car in the game to pwn noobs with.

It's a good idea from PD to make it so difficult to earn as I assume (I've never driven one) it's an incredibly ridiculous car to drive cleanly. I just watched a 3:29.728 Nurburgring run in an X1 and I doubt I could ever run a car like that. The people trading for them will never have a competitive race in them because it takes such a high level of skill to drive it competently. It's just a joke car to 90% of the people out there. Why bother going to the effort to obtain one when you'll never get to experience a close race in one?

Why do so many people like you assume that anyone who hasn't ' officially earned' one can't drive them or is looking for an unfair advantage?
Yes, those people do exist, but you can't tar everyone with the same brush.

I've unlocked the challenge, but I had a few in my garage anyway and will still attempt to gold it for my own satisfaction.
I've silvered monza so far (0.8 secs off Gold and closing before my dfgt threw a fit), and I managed a 3:56 on the 'ring after literally a couple of laps.

As for it being a ridiculous car to drive cleanly... I suggest you practice more.
If you know what you're doing, it's the most precise tool in the game. Ridiculous, yes. Hilariously good fun, definitely.

This trend is quite sad. All 4 of my X1's, including the prototype for all golds, is hard earned. It would be nice if while going online, I knew the people with X1 prototypes earned it themselves. They should have exempted some of the more exclusive cars from being traded. Oh well...

I won all three of mine.

Although it has to be said, even getting the bronze times to win the first X1, is asking a lot of the casual gamer.

I'm not surprised to see many people resorting to getting one gifted to them.

I proudly earned all 3 of mine by driving like a banshee in that spaceship on wheels.

Having gotten golds on them all I gotta tip my hat to anyone an everyone who has done the same. It's a massive achievement. I've never been challenged like that in any version of GT. So while it was frustrating, it was immensely rewarding to complete.

I must also echo Stevisiov's words. The percentage of people in the known world that have the ability to bronze those events (much less to get gold) is ridiculously small in comparison to the number of people that play GT. That being the case I don't find the mass X1 trading to be much of a surprise. It's pretty fair to assume people will want the fastest car in the game. If people can't win them outright (the carbon X1 for example) they will find another way. Of course there is the BSpec option. However asking the masses to be patient enough to reach that plateau is unlikely when they can simply trade and achieve instant gratification. Even that won't provide what people want though. Most gotta have the most elusive colorway. Hence the flood of X1's in the marketplace. Eventually that will die down. Sooner or later the X1 hoarders will have all colors and be back to regular cars. Until then I'll be busy scooping up all the nice cars that people are ignoring due to their X1 wants. Sounds like a win to me!

Just my $0.02. Do with it what you will :)

I've earned both my S.Vettels (bronze and B-spec 35). Still working on the other two :-) (gold, gold, bronze, damn you Suzuka!)

Got to level 35 Bspec, silver Ring and Gold Monza in the challenge. Im doing a 24hr bspec race, so i might give it a crack later tonight at Suzuka

I won all 3 of mine. I agree with Sigma above, the skill and persistance needed is more than the casual gamer will devote to it. I spent several hours on Nurb' and Suzuka alone. Monza is by far the easiest one. But now the Bob's are abusing Vettles car and I have the carbon in storage. The other one is just there. The only real reason to have one, IMO is to win it. (other than b-spec)

You mind me saying that I REALLY don't believe you did that on 'YOUR FIRST TRY'? Alot of people say that, but it's bullcrap. You can't do an insane challenge like that... even with the best racing wheel... without understanding how it drives first. I'm pretty sure 99% of people crash on the first turn.

Yeah. Sorry, I wasn't clear about that. I cut the grass few times. But my first FULL run was bronze.
Anyway I have all 3 of them now :).

I don't have one and I represent the silent players who might never get one since we just don't have time to grind, b-spec, gold the events nor will we trade for a dupe.... :( can I get a hug?

Oh well, at least I know it's not real.
