Regarding SOPA and GT planet

As Justin said earlier, it's a risk people took when using MegaUpload. Whether or not someone used it for personal, legal reasons, we all were aware of how much illegal stuff was also on there.

I don't believe there are file size limitations on DropBox...

And I don't think the government is going to care what a 16 year old teenager has to say.

Yes, but that effort could have went towards more harmful forms of cyber crime such as credit card/bank card fraud.

There are always going to be worse crimes, doesn't mean smaller crimes should be ignored.

They're hell bent on censoring the internet rather than fixing more important things aren't they?

Or we could just renounce our nationalities and start our country!

^^Yes.

I'm sick of all this help from foreign countries, and us giving help to all the foreign countries. We're not completely "independent" any more.

I just watched these videos about ACTA

If these effects of the law are true then well I don't know... I'll be very depressed if it passes.. :guilty:

I just HOPE TO GOD that this will not be passed!! :nervous:

ACTA will most likely have a hard time passing, and even if it is passed, there will most likely be such a huge backlash that the government would have to drop the law.

I just can't see it surviving even if it does pass.

It's already been signed by quite a few big westernized nations. It's a treaty really.

Video hits two points, the RIAA wants a grip of power and control in the internet probably so it can be a pay site or add a surcharge down the road (if this act or treaty came to full power) to make more money. Furthermore, it seems to be a useful tool for Governments to block out info and hide things from people so they are further misinformed or not informed at all.

Finland has signed ACTA :banghead:

I don't understand why everyone except apparently all the forumists in the world have suddenly become anti-Internet.

Xenn

Exactly my thoughts. If it goes through, imagine what anonamous would do! They've already taken down tonnes of federal websites, so the world would be ****ed if it passes.
