Is there any info if the game be Region Free when it's released in ''Japan'' so we could import. Or is it a Japanese game 👍 Thanks.

As far as I know nothing has been confirmed yet regarding import versions.

All PS3 games are open, can be played on any PS3 console regardless of region. The only problem you may encounter is differences in resolutions if you have an SDTV. If you have a HDTV that can play 720p or 1080p/i you will have no problem.

If you want the game to be in Japanese go ahead. I don't know about you, but i would find a game in a foreign language quite difficult to work with.

GT5 is not exactly an RPG is is, if you can recognize a car and track your fine. The menus all have picture icons as well so it will be fine for most people.

I second this. If my brother aged 3 can work out how to use GT5P by himself, and yet he doesnt read english, i'm sure it wont be overly complex to understand a Japanese version of GT5.

If i do import it, i'll probably only play arcade and multiplayer, that'll leave GT mode till i get the UK version.

I don't know, is is?! ;) Yes, it's icon-driven for the most part, but I'd still like to understand what is written. Different strokes for different folks and all that.

That may be so. But I don't read the menus because i already know how to play the game and the basic stuff you'll be able to do. But what if i want to read the detailed info about cars/manufacturers? It can be an interesting read sometimes.

Then you shouldn't import.

DO NOT import the game if you don't speak Japanese and won't buy your local edition.

Yeah pretty much. I'm just going to buy the PAL version when it comes out, i can wait. If you import the Japanese version and don't intend on getting the one for your own region, good luck with that. We don't know if the release dates will be simultaneous yet so you may not have to :) *fingers crossed*

Wise words. I won't be importing either - have no problem waiting. Once it releases in Japan, the game is well-and-truly done. If what they said is true, and the different versions will be finished at the same time, it's all down to marketing.

I was heavily considering importing as I have three friends who lived in Japan to teach that are back and may be able to help me but they wouldn't be over all of the time. I have other sims to hold me off until i get my dose of Gran Turismo. That is if the NA/EU release is months behind the Japanese release of course.

While all PS3 games are region free, there is protection on downloadable content, only content purchased from the same region as the game can be played. For example, if you have a Japanese version of a game, you can only use content downloaded from the Japanese PS Store, things purchased off the EU/US etc stores would not work. As GT5, is in my opinion, highly likely to feature downloadable content, you might want to think about the effects of this restriction before you decide whether or not to import the game.

 That's gonna suck big time if there's gonna be a DLC in GT5, and your owning a Japan version, but live in U.S.

No it doesn't. You buy the Japanese version as soon as it comes out and then the correct version for your region when that comes out.

Well i doubt there will be any DLC for GT5 before all the version have been released.

As I already sayed, GOWIII was announced for march 25th in Japan... And now there are rumors that GOWIII will be released in march 18th in US... The same seems possible for GT5...

But only my thoughts... I don´t wan´t to give you guys hope, its only my speculation...

That's the thing, they are just rumours and speculation. Lots of things are possible, we'll just have to wait and see. It shouldn't be long before we find out if Japan really will get it in March, and how long after that EU and US will be.

March 31st was annouced officially but many retailers/insiders have been claiming its the 25th recently.

To the best of my knowledge, no specific date has been set for any region. Japan was billed as "March 2010" as a release period, but all of the dates mentioned such as 25th March and 31st March are purely speculation. Now, if I'm wrong, I'd love to see the press release cos' I must have missed it!
